First the positive.Staff were great, really nice, polite, helpful and quick. The not so great. The other guests were either rich snobs who spent their time complaining or elderly people who have their own way of doing things, but none of that is the fault of the hotel. The restaurant was on a shortened menu meaning there was nothing for anyone under the age of retirement to enjoy. The bad (from our perspective)The beds are not made for people who like sleeping next to each other. You can't go in for a hug or a simple good night kiss without falling between the two beds that have been pushed together and not secured to the floor or each other. This also meant that even rolling over in the night caused the bed to shift and wake up anyone who is not a heavy sleeper. The noise from the street was really bad, even with closed windows. The breakfast was a total disappointment. Very nice crispy bacon and scrambled egg that was not still partially runny was great, there was nothing to put with it however, not sauces for the otherwise dry bacon and the only thing to go with the egg was salt. This theme continued with the mis-labled jams, the unlabeled milk, the raw fish open and putting off those can't stand the smell sitting next to the cheeses, the nicely laid out bread was hidden behind a piller that made it impossible to stand infront of the bread basket so you had to almost reach around it to grab a bread roll. The bowls for the cereal were at the far end off the buffet, no where near the cereal itself. The buffet was placed in such a way as to force anyone who wanted to get a plate of food to squeeze past other tables and people trying to enjoy their breakfast. We had late check-out (1130) but had the cleaning staff trying to kick us out at 10.It's not a bad place, I can see why they are renting out the currently vacant retirement rooms, but they have given little thought to the younger or less physically or nutritionally restricted people who just want a bed for two nights while, in our case, they just want to visit the zoo.

I wouldn't say I rate this place. We were unaware this is a retirement hotel letting out empty rooms to holiday makers, so it's very much focused on older, lesser abled people. No big deal. But the kitchen in the room is empty. You want cups, a kettle, cutlery, any pots to cook with .. you have to go ask at reception and pay extra. Don't touch that bottle of water either as that will cost you extra. We went because we wanted a place with a pool.... The pool was not available yet nobody bothered to let us know in advance (apparently it had already been closed for weeks before we arrived). No thanks. A disappointment.

We booked this accommodation 7 months prior to our travel and over the time found no better option for that price. It is located in northern suburbs, around 25 min drive from downtown Hamburg. It is in a quiet residential area, very close to a bus stop and U2 metro line.Yes, this is a senior's complex of which one part works as a hotel. That was even a plus for me, as there was no noise around and I liked seeing how the old people spent their time there.Room is actually a small flat of around 50 sqm. You have a full kitchen (not equipped with dishes - you can rent them at the reception if you need them), spacious bathroom, a living room and a separate bedroom.Breakfast was very good and is included in the rate. They have a fair size pool open from 6 AM you can use for free. Also, have in mind they HAVE free private parking on the premises, despite on my booking confirmation was written that no parking is available.Check online how much cost hotels in Hamburg with pool and included breakfast and parking and you'll conclude this is a great option for around 110 Euros a night for 2

The “NewLivingHome” Residenzhotel in Hamburg is an Apartment and hotel complex, located in the north-west of Hamburg, 500 mts from Hagenbeks Tierpark and a 15 minute u-bahn ride from the center.A bus stop is just outside the complex and an underground station is 2minutes away, across the road. There is a spa and pool which unfortunately we were unable to use it during our stay in October 2023 due to maintenance work. The rooms are mini apartments with a kitchen. The apartment is comfortable and clean, has wide doors, probably to accommodate wheelchairs. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious with a decent cupboard in the bedroom. The porcelain in the bathroom was stained, probably because of unrepaired leaks. The sofa bed in the living room was comfortable. The kitchen has a fridge and a hob but is NOT otherwise equipped. You may rent what you need from the hotel, and it would have been nice to know this is advance,As there is no air con in the apartment and you must keep the windows open when it’s warm. Therefore always ask for a room facing away from the main road.Unfortunately our room was road facing, which is terribly noisy.Breakfast is served in the conservatory of the "NewLivingHome".We had to pay extra for breakfast. The breakfast was super, standard European fare, but plenty of it, with a pot of coffee served to the table. And the service staff were very pleasant, attentive and super efficient.Meals can be ordered in Mendelssohn’s restaurant. The receptionist was brilliant and very pleasant. She smiled a lot.The bowl of apples at the reception is appreciated. There is free parking about 80 meters from the hotel entrance. It is reasonably priced .“NewLivingHome” Residenzhotel is highly recommended

The location is great in principle, but it is right next to very busy road, and we had to sleep with the window open because it was more than 30 degrees, so I didn't get much sleep. The first thing that meets us is an empty kitchen and a sign that you can pay 6eur to get basic things. We couldn't even boil water to make coffee. We ask three times and it arrives the next day, overdue for breakfast. The staff did not seem very helpful. The signal of the WiFi was so poor that we couldn't use it. I asked the lady at the reception, she said just try again. Then the mineral water that we thought was free, but we see a small sign 3.8eur added with a faint marker. For 200eur per night, it was quite disappointing. The place is actually a retirement home/conference center with a hotel. I don't know if that can explain the poor service. We are not coming back.

Hotel is nice. Our family room was unusually large. Yummy breakfasts. It is just 15 minutes underground ride from the center, very close to the underground station. It has a pool.

I was here last July and it was perfect place but I don’t know what happened now. Front desk is not welcoming at all except for only one man who really helped us. The pillows are very bad. The wifi inside the room is not working at all. I am writing this message now on 4G connection. The hotel became annoying experience that I don’t recommend anyone to pass by.

A hotel mixed with living for a longer term and older folks. This results in the hotel stay to deliver more than just one room. The wireless was flat open wireless without a login, unsure wether to consider that good or bad. The water provided by the hotel was very expensive. Apart from that it was a very enjoyable stay.

I just spent a weekend here and I really liked this place. I booked it on a very short notice because the price seemed right, it had a parking garage and it was very near the underground station. …

Possibly the oddest hotel I've ever stayed in. Rooms/suites are the size of a small apartment. Great facilities and fast wifi. But it's an old people's home so occasionally you see a reminder of your own mortality wheeled past. Normally while you're having breakfast. But it's very peaceful. And the bar closes very early.
