Quaint Family-Run Hotel with Room for ImprovementI recently stayed at Hotel Gonzlay, a family-run establishment that offers a quaint, personal touch but unfortunately falls short in some areas. The hotel’s age is apparent, with its dated decor and facilities clearly in need of major renovations. The condition of the shower room, in particular, was disappointing, as it showed noticeable stains and discoloration that detracted from the overall cleanliness. On the bright side, breakfast was a pleasant experience, with a decent selection of items to start the day. However, the fact that parking isn’t free adds a bit of inconvenience, especially considering the overall state of the hotel. One of the highlights of my stay was the hospitality of Adam, who I believe is the son of the owners. He was exceptionally helpful, going above and beyond by carrying my luggage and ensuring I was comfortable. His kindness and professionalism left a positive impression, and I sincerely wish him success in the future, especially if he takes over the family business.Overall, while Hotel Gonzlay has potential, particularly with its warm, family-run atmosphere, it could greatly benefit from some much-needed renovations to improve the guest experience.

Beautiful view of the river, from the dining room and our room. The family running the hotel are friendly and helpful. The rooms could do with some updating

Very expensive room, not worth the money.|Bed ok, fridge was not working, poor lighting. |The bathroom was old, and when you’re taller then 1.75 cm you don’t fit under the shower.|A lot of noise out side and no airco.|Do not book. …

Situated along the river, Nice wiew, but thats all. I do not know what they are doing there, they called it renovating. A terrible smell met us when we arrived, food, dust and mould. …

This quirky hotel is about 1km from Traben-Trarbach, an easy cycle ride. It faces on to the river so has an enviable position. It was not the most up to date place in which we stayed but was comfortable.  …

If you are German and over the age of 70, ignore this review. But for anyone still in his or her first seven decades and without fluent German, do yourself a favor and give this place a wide berth. …

We’d booked this hotel for a family weekend break on the strength of its riverside location, very reasonable prices and not least, the opportunity to sample the owner’s wines. …
