I stayed here for only one night and had a great sleep. I actually made a mistake on my last minute reservation (had booked same day for July instead of June). Not only did they accommodate me regardless of the mistake but they didn't bring it to my attention until after check out.Bed was quite comfortable. Room was very clean and the staff was very welcoming. I would definitely stay here again!

Didn't stay at the hotel; but enjoyed a lovely meal there. Cream soups were hot & tasty, the Cordon Bleu was made there (with luncheon meat and cheese that gave it a likeable twist) and not something you get frozen at a grocery store, and the Fish Platter with 3 types of fish, 2 different sauces, noodles & shrimp was delicious. Only one waiter; but he was doing a super job in making sure everyone there was taken care of!Once you know exactly where it is, you'll be able to park in one of the larger public parking spots to take a short walk there - which is better than circling through the narrow streets hoping to find a parking spot that's open and not reserved residents of the neighborhood. Will definitely be back the next time we're in Otterberg for dinner!

This was an excellent hotel. We were given the upstairs apartment. It was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a kitchen and a large bathroom. The hotel is centrally placed but quiet.  …

We stayed two nights here stopping off on a trip to Austria. The room was huge with sloping wooden floors and beams. It is 16th century. Fantastic old place with plenty of character. We ate two nights there. …

Always very clean rooms, kind and helpful staff, nice breakfast. Nice food in the restaurant below. Was staying there couple of times and I would fully recommend it!

The outside apartments are spacious, clean, appear to be newly renovated and have large flatscreen tv's. The free breakfast is enough for me (and I'm a big dude at 6'3" 300) but it's your standard meat/cheese/bread combo. The restaurant offers good food (I've had the steak and pork medallions so far and both were very good). The server is very kind and speaks English well. I'm only giving 4 stars because all around everything this establishment has to offer is very good but not outstanding. Also, the price is just slightly on the higher side but fairly reasonable. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone who asks where to stay while in the area.

This is a very homey, historic old guest house - it's rather like staying at an absent cousin's house! We don't have much German, and the staff didn't have too much English, but it didn't seem to be a problem at all. …

EDIT 3: Restaurant has reopened under new management this weekend, as the “Culinarium.” Sort of a French/German/Mediterranean fusion. Very nice food, very nice and attentive staff, upgraded aesthetic, a bit pricier but not unreasonable. The steaks (listed in the menu as “roast beef”) are especially yummy. Good Date Night choice, but with some less fancy options (pastas and flammkuchen) for kids or the budget conscious.EDIT 2: Latest iteration of Blaues Haus is closed as of summer ‘19. Not sure if they will reopen, but if so will likely be completely new operation. So watch this space for more!EDIT: This place is under new management, and the food is amazing! Gone is the Italian stuff, which was good but not great. Here now is a selection of classic German dishes, including schnitzel, pork medallions, fish and beef steaks. It is all fresh and delicious. We love the fact that after you order you can hear someone pounding your schnitzel in the kitchen! And we love the rarely-seen salad bar which comes with every meat dish (pretty much everything), which lets you choose your toppings AND not drown it in dressing as is generally the case with a German salad! The nice young ladies serving speak English, although please do try your German on them, they won't bite! The place is rarely more than 1/4 full, so we've been there many times and never needed a reservation.Full disclosure, and this may be your experience as well: We went on their grand re-opening night, and while the food was good they were WAY overwhelmed by the demand. Food took like 3 hours! BUT...they have corrected, and it is vastly improved now, to the point this is our go-to when we want to take friends to a good German meal in town.
