When my son booked this youth hostel for our recent trip to the German Grand Prix I was a little concerned, having memories of some hostels in the past!! I needn't have worried. It was amazing!! …

I stayed at hostel in July 2017. We got a 5 bedded room, with one window which can be barely opened due to "security reasons". During the summer months the rooms can get quite uncomfortable due to higher temperatures and no scope of letting fresh air in. The reception staffs were indifferent. As a guest I did not feel welcome. Breakfast was included in the price and breakfast was ok. Nothing amazing. Limited number of parking places are available right in front of the hostel. The location of the hostel is very nice. River Rhine flows right in front of the hostel and the adjacent walkway, green lawn and big trees make the surrounding very charming. A big minus for me was not to have a guest kitchen. I will not stay here again because this is not my type of vacation accommodation.

Place is clean and breakfast buffet is a good deal. It has a decent playground for guests with kids. The location is nice right next to the Rhein. It has elevators which is important for getting luggage up and down. But it provides free WiFi only 1hr per day per device. It has no AC so you have to leave the windows open when the weather is warm and it can be noisy due to people hanging out in the front yard. Also as a hostel it provides no soap, no towels and you have to make your own bed. In our room, you also had to use the door's electronic key to unlock the closets and the key did not manage to unlock all of them. Price wise it makes sense if you pay for 3 people or less. For a family of 4, when all kids pay (after the age of 7), it makes sense to go to a regular 3 or 4 star hotel.

Our reservation was disappeared and the guy just gave some rooms to us. In the next morning we had to change rooms. There was 9 of us and when we were going to pay for the week we couldn't pay separately. They said we should pay over 1500€ in one payment. But after the problems were solved the week went well and the hostel was pretty decent. And considering the price, the breakfast was good. The rooms were pretty good. The beds weren't that good, but they did their job.

VERY clean, both the rooms and the common areas (even the WCs). All rooms have a private bathroom. I was never afraid for my things, because my locker could only be accessed by key card and all guests seemed to be business people. Breakfast and dinner are only a small selection but cheap and good quality. The personnel is very nice. 6-10 minutes on foot from the train station (though the path is a bit tricky to find).Only criticism:1) wifi is only available in the common areas and mobile data reception is pretty terrible.2) as a German you need to be a member of Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk, so you pay 7-12€ more.

This youth hostel is at an awesome location near the forst park at the bank of river Rhine. The facilities are good and staff are friendly. The lounge has free wifi and a TV to watch sports . The bad in the lounge offers comprehensive range of drinks and food . However at times the bathrooms may not be as clean as you need. There are small rooms to study in groups and also two moderately large halls to organize a small party. A stay is always recommended.

This was the best thing we did all holiday. After a very wet morning cycling to Mannheim (the point of our tour as it was the 200 year anniversary of the Velocipede) we decided that it was not much fun cycling in the rain and that we should …

I did not use any of the available amenities, which included breakfast (it wasn't available before 7:00 a.m.), table tennis, and a playground, so I cannot comment on those. But I think it was nice that they were available. …
