Nice family hotel, we stayed here for 4 days after Easter.Very pleasant atmosphere, rooms not luxurious but OK and clean. Nice personel. The house still has a certain GDR charm, which we liked. The food in the restaurant was very inexpensive, tasty and plentiful. We can recommend the house and would come back.

We were there for a weekend as a couple in July 2021.The staff was very friendly and a lot of fun. The dinner was very tasty.Unfortunately the rooms weren't to my taste. Everything was absolutely clean, but quite old-fashioned. There was a musty smell upstairs. The TV was tiny. The picture was almost impossible to see from the bed.The bathroom wasn't ultra-modern, but it was ok and very clean (no discolored joints as you often see). Unfortunately, the mirror cabinet was mounted so high that it was difficult for short people (I'm 1.56m) to look into the mirror. But there was still a large mirror in the main room.Since the hotel is located directly on a street, the traffic can also be heard in the rooms at the back and can be heard clearly if the windows are open. The breakfast buffet was ok. But it was very clear. The breakfast places were allocated (probably because there was a larger celebration in the hotel at the time), which meant that we had to share the (very long) table with another guest. The WiFi didn't work at all in the upper part, but only in the guest room. The adjacent fitness studio has a huge selection of equipment. I can't say anything about the quality because I'm not familiar with it. But at least from the room with the endurance equipment you have a very nice view over the fields and the forest. If desired, you can also receive help from the operator. The swimming pool was small and a bit older. There were lots of water toys. But the changing rooms were terribly cold. What I found very good was that the swimming pool was locked because there were children in the hotel and they wanted to avoid accidents. It would only make sense to post a note for the other guests. Some people give up swimming instead of asking at reception. Conclusion:I would recommend it for lunch or dinner. Not for an overnight stay, as I didn't really like the room or the breakfast. I was happy when I went home again.Aug 20, 2024:This review was deleted and rewritten by me after over 3 years because the operator wanted it removed from Google because it was allegedly untrue.A strange way of dealing with criticism. My rating reflects my feelings and the condition of the hotel etc. at this time. I don't know what it's like there now after about 3 years.

Went there for a class reunion. Conditions and food were great, but later in the evening the drinks became more expensive due to a night surcharge. Nothing was said about this. Therefore only 3 stars.

I go there several times a year, there is a really big parking lot, an indoor swimming pool with warm water, local food and really nice staff. Getting there is easy, you don't have to struggle into a narrow city center. Next year I will go there on my motorcycle for the first time. I particularly like that there is investment in the hotel. This time it was the room and the tiles in the indoor pool.

We stayed at the Sporthotel Mönchenfrei for the weekend at the beginning of December 2023, with -6 degrees and 30 cm of snow, so I can't say much about the outdoor facilities. The rooms are functionally equipped and very clean, the heating worked without any problems. The breakfast buffet was very rich for the price and there is a large selection of cheese, sausage, spreads and egg dishes. Plus tea, coffee, juices + various cereals. The small evening menu consists of typical home cooking and is really recommended and delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The furnishings and decoration are typically Erzgebirge and traditional. Which my wife and I really liked. We'll definitely come back again.

Unfortunately, our weekend stay with the family at the sports hotel “Glück Auf” in Mönchenfrei was anything but satisfactory. The room we were allocated was disappointing. It was dirty and inhabited by silverfish, which was very uncomfortable for us, especially with our toddler. The furniture was shabby, giving the room an overall uncomfortable feel. The room was in a shabby condition and appeared neglected. The food in the hotel was also a big disappointment. The meals provided were disgusting and of poor quality. It seemed like a lot of it came straight from the can, without any care or fresh ingredients. This disappointed us very much and put an additional strain on our stay. The location of the hotel directly on the main road was loud and significantly disturbed the night's sleep. The street noise also entered the room, creating an uneasy atmosphere.Another problem was the heating in the hotel. It was set way too hot and couldn't be regulated properly. This led to an uncomfortably high room temperature and affected our comfort. All in all, I unfortunately cannot recommend the sports hotel “Glück Auf” in Mönchenfrei. The condition of the rooms, the poor food and the inconvenient location make the stay a disappointing experience.
