The staff is very rude the food is terrible the cleaning staff doesn't clean anything.A small 5 cm part of a wardrobe was broken and we needed to pay a new one that cost 180 euros.Overall very bad I don't advise anyone to go there, there are lots of better places at the same or lower prices

The hostel is on the outskirts of town and is very tiring to reach by bike, the beds are made of metal and squeak a lot, the breakfast can be improved, other youth hostels can do more for the same money; The shower and toilet were okay, the service was very friendly and helpful.

We spent a night here to visit the Miniaturwunderland in Hamburg. We found the youth hostel very comfortable. The team was also very friendly. The toilets on the floors were very clean. What I found funny and quaint were the wooden floorboards that creaked with every step. You can easily get to nearby Hamburg by public transport (34km to the city). We left our car at the Park & Ride parking lot and took the S Bahn the rest of the way in.There is a barrier-free entrance.

As already mentioned several times, the youth hostel is of older construction. The friendliness and caring of the staff make up for it.We booked the 3-day family break and were very satisfied. Our room was functionally furnished and clean. There is a sink in the room, showers and toilets on the floors. Not a modern standard here either, but the water comes out of the shower immediately warm and with a lot of pressure.Food is youth hostel standard. Sufficient for us, especially since we were able to spontaneously book dinner on site. And very important to mention: the staff had taken precautions and put a large television in the dining room so that we could all watch the final of the European Football Championship. If that's not a service......

It is a youth hostel, so you shouldn't expect the rooms to be a 5 star hotel (at least). The food is great, always fruit and vegetables and everyone was full.Very friendly service, they really respond to all requests and help wherever they can.All in all, highly recommended, especially for school classes, as adults are provided with a coffee flat rate in the morning. We thank you very much and best regards.

We were in Geestacht for a day while traveling through and stayed overnight at the DJH Geestacht. We were greeted by a pungent smell of urine. Other people would say that the hallways had just been mopped, I would say that the hallways had just been flooded. When we arrived around lunchtime, it was lunch time. Put off by the hygiene conditions in the house, I took a very small portion and no meat. In the end I had a few baked potatoes with a mushroom cream sauce with "napkin dumplings", or at least that's what they called it themselves. We didn't come back until late in the evening because of a concert in Hamburg, but we still had a warm meal in front of us, although it could still be improved. The breakfast was run of the mill and not particularly good. However, what was present in all meals was that the salt content was far too high.We had a four-bed room. It stank here too, and you could tell that the room hadn't seen a broom, let alone a mop, for a long time. The beds, or rather the iron frames, offered practically no comfort. The room was small, and a completely unstable closet didn't make the overall impression of the room any better. There were only communal showers in which there was no separation between the sexes. Even though the room was very shabby, the showers at least didn't make a bad impression, and after some effort I finally allowed myself a bath. The WiFi was also subpar… and actually that's too friendly because it simply wasn't available in our rooms!Overall, I give my stay two out of five stars. The other ambience of the house and its surroundings was also non-existent. At first I wanted to give the youth hostel one star, but since I would give the food itself 2-3 stars and the service wasn't that subpar, I decided to give a total of two out of five stars for my stay at the DJH Geestacht forgive. Nevertheless, I would like to point out once again that the DJH Geestacht urgently needs a general overhaul.

On my Elbe bike tour from Magdeburg to Cuxhaven I went to the Geestacht youth hostel from August 23rd to 24th, 2024. The two sisters who took turns at reception. have enriched my stay exceptionally with their competence, friendliness and willingness to help. Thank you very much for that.

We stayed for one night including lunch, dinner and breakfast. When we arrived I had an uneasy feeling because this JH looked a bit run down from the outside. Probably also inside:On the lower floor there was a very pungent smell of urine and somehow the floor was wet everywhere. In general, the interior of this JH is not very inviting. It's cold in my opinion, which didn't make my stay much better.Let's come to the rooms: In my opinion, these are more like a prison than a JH. We had a 4-person room, which I found to be very small. It was cold here too, and attempts to turn on the heating were unsuccessful. Unfortunately there was no shower in the room, but there was a sink. However, it takes a long time (I mean really long) to finally get warm water. After this shock, we had lunch first. I was a bit skeptical because the reviews weren't all that positive about the food. All in all, I thought the food was edible, but I still didn't bother with it. I had potatoes with vegetables and chicken. There was also a dessert that was labeled "chocolate pudding." However, in my opinion it was more of a mixture of chocolate & vanilla pudding.Even though dinner wasn't a feast for the palate, I thought it was better than lunch. I just took pasta with tomato sauce because I thought you couldn't go wrong there. The noodles didn't taste particularly good, but it was okay for a JH. Here too there was pudding again, this time vanilla, but it was again with chocolate. The night went better than expected, but of course it wasn't particularly comfortable. By now we had gotten used to the somewhat colder environment.Of course I also wanted to test the sanitary facilities, which is why I took a shower in the morning. The showers were so well, at least you didn't have to wait forever for warm water. But the shower curtain was torn down (including the rod) and apparently no one bothered to repair it.The staff was still friendly and helpful when I asked for towels. Finally, I can only say that this DJH needs a fundamental renovation. Both from inside and outside. The cold is not pleasant and not ideal for the first impression. I also think it's a shame that there are only communal showers; at other DJHs there were showers directly in the room.I wouldn't recommend this DJH, you can definitely find better alternatives for the same money.
