While it was 4 degrees outside, the heating was not working, so it was particularly uncomfortable for us with a child. The lady at the reception kindly helped us after our second trial, but only by providing extra covers. A 4-star hotel charging a three-person family 135 euros a night should not apply electronic locking of radiator knobs.

Stayed there for a week on a business trip. Didn't like the fact that the staff enters the room In your absence and messes with your personal stuff. For example if you don't put away your toiletries, they will disappear

This is a very old school German hotel, and that is not meant in a positive way. Single rooms are the smallest I have ever stayed in. The view was disgusting. See photo. Breakfast was ok but not amazing. Would not ever stay there again. Avoid single rooms, in particular room 28.

The rooms are very small without ac and very noisy. The breakfast isn't worth it.

What I liked: It's close to all points of interest, the breakfast was good, my room was clean and the service was also friendly. What I didn't like: the rooms need refurbishing and renovation. There is no air conditioning, which is brutal in the summer - I slept with an open window, but then I woke up a few times because of the noise from the street. The mattress felt old and overused, it was not comfortable at all and reminded me of the mattress from the mountain huts. But that's 16 eur per night 😂 the sheets also felt very low quality.I think it's super expensive for what it offers, but I don't know how the other hotels compare in this city.I've stayed in very modern and comfortable hotels with ac for the same price in Berlin and Munich.edit: took a star off for the arrogance in their response. Yes, they do have rooms with AC, for the price of queen/king suits in normal hotels. And you usually don't book your own room for business trips, so it can happen that you get one of these rooms from the '70s. Avoid this place.

Very nice hotel room including a sitting area and private bathroom. I particularly liked the high ceilings. The hotel breakfast was wonderful with a nice mix of continental, traditional cereal and fresh fruits. The location was a great for walking around town and the university, but terrible for parking. The hotel has 2 lots one to the north, the other to the west. Google will direct you to the west lot, but I would recommend trying the north lot first as it is much easier to maneuver in. Both lots are insufficient, and you are likely to need to find off site parking if you're arriving late, especially on nights when the restaurant is also open. The one other drawback is the hotel was quite noisy at night with police and trollies going by.

Stayed here for 3 days. Arrived late on Thursday and asked whether I could get something from the restaraunt (as others were still eating). Receptionist told me to go and 'beg' the chef for something as the kitchen was closing soon. Went into the kitchen lobby to ask and was told to wait outside by an incredibly rude chef. Waited for 10 minutes and then I asked whether it would be possible to get food as I would simply go to bed if not, not a problem. Told to wait again. Turns up after a further 20 minutes to take my order and informs me the kitchen is now closed. Why not just tell me immediatelly that the kitchen was closed? Pathetically bad and genuinly vindictive service. Was initially provided a small inadequate blanket for my bed and so I asked for an extra blanket at reception in the morning. Returned to my room that night to find no extra blanket. Tired, went down to reception to ask for the blanket and was susbsequently dragged around the hotel for 15 minutes by the receptionist whilst she searched over several floors for a blanket. Perhaps instead just offer to take it to me room for me?Other than that the room was OK, clean etc. Not very restful sleep as was cold and can easily hear people in the corridor.Breakfast was nice however. Overall, not worth the money and the chef completely ruined the experience for me.

My wife and I spent two nights at the hotel while attending a conference. Our room was elegant and comfortable (and equipped with a great balcony) and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel had inexpensive paid parking that allows you to come and go at your convenience. Next time I am in Jena, I will definitely stay here again.

Stayed for one night in this very traditional hotel. The breakfast was very good and I liked the old colored glass windows in the breakfast room. My room was tiny and had no a/c. There was a fan but the cable was not long enough to put the fan to the window for some fresh air. The window was next to a busy intersection so I barely slept that night - noisy and hot. The staff appeared like they couldn't care less - they did not even ask me on checkout if things were ok.

I have known this hotel from previous events to which I was invited to. Returning to Jena, I wanted to try the hotel for an overnight stay. …
