EN: We host several seminars per year at DJH Freudenstadt and we keep coming back for a reason. The JH leaders, Jana and Christian, are great people that bend over backwards to make sure everyone is happy, including keeping everyone in the loop about what groups are coming and going so that everyone feels comfortable. One of the highlights for us is the food, in particular the fresh green salad bar, which certainly isn't a given at a youth hostel. Highly recommended for groups, and if I was the type to visit Freudenstadt on my own, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here privately either.

We came from the RV parking space and asked kindly if we could take a shower for an additional charge. This is always possible in the north. The housekeeper was quite unfriendly and barely let me speak. It would definitely be a small source of income since the bathrooms are separate from the rooms anyway. Too bad.

We were there with the youth fire department and I have to say that I could have easily stayed longer. The rooms were clean, although a bit older and quite small, but I was mostly in bed anyway so it wasn't a problem for me. Even though I only had something warm for dinner once, I have to say that the food was very tasty. On all other days I helped myself to the salad bar, which was perfect. Breakfast was seventh heaven for me. The receptionist Erna is very friendly, she even lent me a volleyball. As far as the location is concerned, the youth hostel is only about 100m away from the Black Forest Center, which means you can simply take a shopping cart, shop and then bring your purchases with the shopping cart to the youth hostel (no, I haven't tried it). What I would like to say at the end is that it bothered me a little that, regardless of how many people live in a room, there is only one key for everyone; I have had better experiences in another youth hostel.

The youth hostel is very old and the location is not suitable for school classes. The rooms are common areas with bunk beds and one or two sinks. All showers and toilets are available on different floors, although boys and girls are on different floors and you may have to change floors. There are no individual toilets or showers for people accompanying a group/teacher/supervisor. There is a toilet cubicle in the common areas, which is accessible with a key. The showers and their anteroom for changing (with a glass door) can only be completely closed so that no one else can shower or you can shower with the students. The rooms were clean, but very old. The flooring smelled of cheese feet. The furnishings are not very appealing. There is a table, but no chairs, the walls are bare, only curtains without shutters, etc. In general, the JH has little space. The outdoor area is on a busy road, has a sloping terrain and the volleyball net is not stretched. The table tennis table outside was very dirty. To play football you have to play on an independent pitch. Sitting outside is only possible in front of the house on that street. The common areas are not very inviting. The plus point is the nearby shopping center. The organization in advance of additional offers and activities and the communication were good, but there were many errors on site. The activities including time and group size were not properly communicated to external providers, which unfortunately led to a lot of confusion and discord. The food was ok for a JH. There is a salad bar at dinner, but only one main course. The packed lunch can be put together yourself. This was OK for 2 days, but due to the location, the old furnishings and the lack of sanitary facilities, we would not come back and would not recommend it to others.
