EDIT: the comment that the lady made here shows her true colors once again. Hospitality zero. Everyone should be deterred now. Thanks for that!Unfortunately I have to agree with all the negative comments. This was the most terrible “hotel” night we have ever had. The host is more than unfriendly, if you have any questions or requests you are immediately shouted at and then greeted in an overly friendly and fake manner the next day. We felt totally uncomfortable and were afraid that we wouldn't be able to comply with the hotel rules, which were immediately explained to you.If you can, I recommend booking another hotel!

We took a two-day short vacation in this magical guesthouse right on the river. You can hear the noise all night long and have an unrestricted view over the meadows. Very relaxing, recommended!

The quaint hotel with a few rooms is next to a brook overlooking a large meadow. The rooms are small and the appliances dated. …

We were yelled at by staff, and in general they were extremely rude and disrespectful. We were not allowed in the lobby due to it being a “restaurant”. At that time, it was closed, but we were forced to order from the extremely limited number of drinks to sit there. Could not recommend.

The guest house has a morbid charm. The owners are a bit reserved. The whole thing lacks life, because the accommodation had flair and a view. Would have liked to have a drink on the terrace in the evening or a coffee outside in the morning.

Caution! Before booking, phone call with the owner: “nice room with a view and sitting area”, “spacious garden by the river” and “you will feel at home with us”. However, they couldn't serve us dinner in the restaurant: “We can't afford that for two people”?! Written confirmation: “The room is nice”, corresponding to booking for two nights and anticipation.Upon arrival: no reception or lobby, no friendly greeting, let alone welcome, instead a small, cramped, dark room with a musty/mouldy smell and damp walls (even with the heating turned on). There was hardly any light and the “garden view” was extremely limited due to the very small cassette window. We didn't try out whether this could be opened because of the many mosquitoes outside, there was no mosquito net, but there was an indignant note that you weren't allowed to enter the spacious garden at the back, only the small part facing the street (apparently there was there is a second terrace facing the garden, but we never saw it). We were also not allowed to enter the “main house” after 6 p.m. The metal frame of the bed squeaked loudly when you just sat on it, the mattresses were extremely soft or sagging, only a thin blanket in the cold, damp room. The “sitting area”: a single chair leaning against the wall, no fridge, just a cupboard with a clothes rail, which also smelled musty inside - nothing you would want to hang your clothes in!Room door with large glass windows to the hallway and curtain as a privacy screen, another window in the interior wall that led to the unlit hallway. Everything is accordingly noisy and above all: unsecured!Instead, we were instructed in detail that the front door should be kept open day and night “under all circumstances!” must be completed = fire protection?! No other escape route is visible, nor are there any fire alarms, etc.Overall, completely unacceptable circumstances, which we tried to clarify directly with the owner on site, but instead of a different room (supposedly fully booked) the answer was: “You booked the cheapest room, then you will only get the cheapest!” - A strong statement for almost 100 euros per night, and it was not clear when booking that it was the “cheapest” room (standard), nor was there any indication during the phone call in advance (“nice room” see above). We left immediately, but the money was still debited in full, including the 28 euros for breakfast, which of course we didn't have either. Conclusion: definitely avoid!

I stayed in this beautiful little hotel for two nights with my 84 year old mother and my sister. We each had a room in the area where the guest restaurant is located. All three of us were very surprised at how beautifully the rooms were decorated. We felt like princesses :) Plus this wonderful view of the meadows. The Red Main flows directly past the hotel (which was unfortunately a bit loud in my room, so I had to keep the window closed at night). Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay in this small romantic hotel. The furnishings of the breakfast room were amazing. Plus the generous breakfast (fresh rolls, sausage and cheese plate, fruit plate, orange juice, coffee and freshly prepared egg of your choice) - what more could you want. In summer you can also have breakfast on the terrace when the weather is nice. The location was great for us too. We deliberately looked for a hotel in a rural location, where Kulmbach and Bayreuth can be easily reached by car in just a few minutes. There are options for eating out in the town itself, as well as an ice cream parlor and a bakery. And if you want to eat at the hotel, just let us know in good time. Don't understand the people who complained that they couldn't eat at the hotel. Anyone who can read and inform themselves in advance would have known that the hotel restaurant is only accessible to guests and that you have to make a reservation in advance. So if you're looking for a romantic stay, you've come to the right place. In any case, we will definitely come back :)
