The rooms in the Förtsch guesthouse were very clean and nicely furnished! Plenty of space in the beautiful bathroom! Breakfast very good!

We had a Mydays voucher for the candle light dinner and were therefore full of anticipation. However, we were completely disappointed that evening.Starting with the service ladies, who were friendly, but had no idea what was going on and had to ask everything in the kitchen (didn't seem professional). Drinks were only added quite late, but for example the wine glasses were simply left on the tables, which were not actually needed. The dishes were all predetermined and unfortunately there was no choice. In the main course, the bacon-wrapped pork fillet was dry and pulled, the grilled vegetables were soggy and buried in the sauce, and overall the taste was a disaster for the money you paid. The dessert was also very dry.We will therefore avoid the Pörtnerhof in the future.

We still had a hotel voucher that we wanted to redeem. The location is great, Seßlach is a beautiful place and we were allowed to bring our dog with us for a small fee. Unfortunately, the credit for a Mydays voucher is only enough for the simple standard rooms... we had to pay an extra charge for the room in the deluxe category. On the day of arrival, a Thursday, the hotel was closed for arrival at 2 p.m. After some searching we found an envelope with our name on it. Inside, the key and directions to our room...The Deluxe room we booked was not in the hotel, but about half a km away. So we set off across the beautiful town. The next disillusionment came in the guest house. The deluxe room was a relatively simply furnished room. There were only open cupboards without doors and no refrigerator or anything like that. The sideboard had water stains and the drinking glasses still had our predecessors' lipstick. This would actually have been easy to fix. At least there was a big TV, because that's what you go on vacation for after all...They also forgot to mention to us that the hotel restaurant was closed on the day we arrived. Especially annoying because of the three restaurants in town, one was also closed and one was closed for vacation. At least the Altstadthof made it possible for us to have dinner there, despite already having a number of reservations. Our thanks go to them.We probably won't visit the Pörtnerhof again. At least we had breakfast the following day after we had crossed the town again. It was breakfast. Nothing extraordinary or stunning, but we didn't expect anything more.

When we arrived the reception was not occupied. However, a lady from the hotel happened to come by in the courtyard and showed us envelopes that were in a container on a bar table. I looked for my name that was on the envelope (which contained, among other things, the room key). The room was directly opposite the reception in the main building. The room was spread over 2 floors (upstairs there was a double bed and an extra bed with sloping ceilings). You got to the top via a steep wooden staircase. In the lower area was the bathroom and a kitchenette as well as a table with two chairs and a wardrobe. There was a shelf under the stairs with a tablet as an electronic guest book.Something that bothered me was that there was no staff there except at breakfast time and you couldn't eat dinner either. But this all seems to be due to the lack of staff.

The hotel is beautiful. I also thought the room was great. The staff are really very friendly. The breakfast was the best and most varied I've had in hotels for a long time. I think the Pörtnerhof is great and would recommend it at any time.

I can't understand the good reviews. We were there on Sunday, August 11th. there while eating. The service was friendly, but that was it. Four drinks we ordered came after 20 minutes, one of which was wrong. The four meals arrived after more than an hour. I ordered bacon-wrapped pork fillet with vegetables and fries. The food came in a soup/pasta plate. Vegetables in the sauce and the 3 fillets on top. The fries came in a separate bowl. The fillets were fried and tough, the bacon, if there was any, was limp. We definitely won't eat there again.

More transparency needed when booking! The beautiful pictures hide the fact that you may be accommodated somewhere else entirely, the reception is not staffed, only a hotline can provide information or pass on inquiries by telephone, and you find out all of this upon arrival via an information sheet provided. Parking is not at the address given in the booking portal, but outside the city walls in a place where you don't necessarily want to be alone at night. With all understanding for the cramped local conditions in a small historic town, with all understanding for the sometimes difficult situation for small accommodation providers, but if these circumstances are not pointed out when booking, then all that remains is a bad memory...

The breakfast buffet and the restaurant were very good. The historic town is also very beautiful, but you have to park outside the city walls and then have a walk of around 100 m. You can drive directly to the hotel to load and unload. The room was very spacious, although it was spread over two floors, which were only connected by a very narrow and steep staircase.
