Gasthof "Zur Burg" In Hohenberg an der Eger in Upper Franconia, northeastern Bavaria, located opposite the imposing castle with a light-flooded guest room and outdoor seating.Briefly rated: I'd love to come back!! Self-marketing business with its own fish farm, sheep, chickens, ... Basically its own and not from New Zealand 😁.Particularly noteworthy: the very friendly, careful, dynamic service staff and the fast kitchen staff.

Unfortunately the food wasn't good. It didn't seem fresh (salad tarnished, spaezle sticky, dry meatloaf), nor did it taste good or finecoordinated (dumplings, horseradish sauce), or somehow beautifully presented. Too bad. Operation was also chaotic in terms of process (lack of staff), at first there was no cutlery, side salads were missing... but service was still attentive and nice.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this hotel. Shortly after checking in, I carefully sat down on the bed, which promptly broke. We then tried to call reception for 15 minutes to report the damage. Finally a man answered the phone to tell us he would fix the bed in an hour and suggested we take a walk in the meantime.When we returned 2.5 hours later in the evening and wanted to go to sleep, the bed was still broken. In addition, the customer hotline was not available. Something like that shouldn't happen in a hotel. Very disappointing!

Food was super tasty, Greek Cordon Bleu and Cordon Bleu juicy and wonderfully tender. Great atmosphere and friendly service, highly recommended! We will be back.

Friendly welcome. Motorhome parking space above country pleasure, stood at the fishing pond (pure nature).Eating in the inn is highly recommended.Price performance is right.

Simple rooms that have everything you need. Breakfast is a bit sparse. The food is good, simple home cooking. The innkeepers and staff are very nice and accommodating. The location is very good for trips to the Czech Republic or Saxony etc.

It's a nice little family business.With the whole family, 4 generations.From grandpa to grandson...Some of the food comes from our own slaughterhouse.Also breakfast, with homemade jam.Only the rooms are clean...but at the level of 1980.So if you don't have high expectations and want good food, you're in good hands there!
