Great location, short distances to all sights and shops/restaurants. Lack of air conditioning is exhausting in midsummer. WiFi unstable. Check in/out hassle free.

Very central location. Maybe a little too central - due to the noise of the windows or when they are open (summer/no air conditioning) you can hear everything going on and at the market, even at night. Parking possible in the public car park, less than 500m walk. Our room was generally tidy, spacious and equipped with everything you need. However, if you take a closer look, the condition is rather below average. For example, dust in every corner, broken blinds, broken fittings and tiles in the bathroom. OK for a few nights.

Located in the center, I was booked it in the very last minute via phone, and it was raining heavily. The owner was so generous, she accepted my booking even it was already 23:30! Thank god I have place to stay in Coburg. Lovely and clean suite and nice atmosphere, highly recommended!!!!!

We arrived in Coburg on Sunday June 18th, 2023 to attend Peter Maffay's concert. For this purpose, we booked a hotel room in the said hotel in advance. The hotel itself is of an older design. Our room was equipped with the essentials. We brought our own drinks, which was good. Our bathroom was equipped with a shower. There was a TV and WiFi. For our purpose of just staying overnight it was okay.

Stayed in Coburg for one night, and The Square Hotel was a good choice for us. It's directly in the city center, you can walk to just about any major location in town, including the Veste Coburg with a thirty min walk.Our room was on the third floor, very tidy, and spacious with a small kitchen inside. Our view looked out over the courtyard.Breakfast is not served, but you can make your own or enjoy one in a nearby Cafe.The instruction to collect the keys were clear and detailed.No problem to get in.Recommended, just consider that there is no elevator in the building.

Old and rickety, hair and a bloodstained duvet. Clutter under the bed, kettle full of limescale, dirty orange grout in the shower cabin, small pillowcase on a very large pillow, the vegetable drawer from the refrigerator was covered in plastic rubbish and a mop of dirty hair under the sink. And a terribly messy mess of plates, cups, 1 wine glass and old dirty cutlery. The floor creaked, when you get up from the couch someone else goes up a bit! The only, and only, good thing is that you are in the center.

Friendly housekeeping lady, unfortunately the family room did not meet our wishes. The bed squeaked extremely loudly, the bathroom door couldn't be closed and the lock was hanging out.

The hotel is really aged and is for sure not a 4 star hotel. The cleaning is perfect and the personnel is fine. The management is terrible, unprofessional and unrespectful of customer's needs and has a flexibility of a stone. …

very aged hotel. cleaning staff is perfect and gentle. the management (mrs hammerling) on the contrary is very rude un professional and will not even try to solve any problem. there are better structure at lower fares in the city. highly not recommended.

very dated hotel. really fantastic cleaning staff. The manager Mrs Hammerling has an incredible flaw because she doesn't speak English and is really rigid. Don't expect it to solve any problems. we with allergic children had a terrible experience

The night before check-in, we received an email with the codes to extract the keys from a dropbox. When first arriving in front of the building located conveniently on the market square, I went into the bakery thinking the dropbox was inside. I couldn’t see a dropbox while standing outside. The lady behind the counter explained the dropbox was behind the large wooden door in the hallway! After entering the codes, we had our keys. We opened the main door which had a short hallway leading to the stairs. This hallway reeked of stale beer. The smell was gone once we reached the first floor. Once arriving at our rooms after 55 steps and no elevator (remember to pack light!), we couldn’t help to feel this really isn’t a hotel. Instead it felt more like a Pension or a Hostel. Our expectations were for more of a traditional hotel. The stay was very impersonable. There was no one in the building representing this business. The room above us had a person (possibility a child) constantly running back and forth, making noise until 23:00 for our entire stay. With the building being very old, there are indications the hotel needs some “Tender Loving Care”. For breakfast, we ate at an excellent cafe: Cafe Feiler on Theaterpl. 5 which is a 5 to 8 minute walk. A Concerning Side Note: the ceiling in room 32 has a noticeable crack running parallel to the window!
