The literary hotel in Berlin-Steglitz is the perfect alternative to the modern world: instead of WiFi signal strength, smartphones ringing and the hustle and bustle of the big city, there is peace, friendliness and relaxation here. Antique furniture so charming that you almost think they have more stories to tell than the internet. And yes – books, books, books. Who would have thought? More pages than a lost tablet in airplane mode, perfect for getting lost in another world for hours. The breakfast? An absolute dream. May it never end! You indulge in antique dishes, rolls, cheese and fresh fruit, as if someone had pressed the pause button in your hectic everyday life. And clean? As if Schotte, the crime scene cleaner, were a regular guest himself - it shines. The reception? Friendliness and warmth are an Olympic discipline here. You are greeted so warmly that you feel like you are coming home - even if you are there for the first time or, like me, a repeat offender. And all of this is just three minutes from the S-Bahn. Who wants Netflix when the Literaturhotel offers better programming?

The owner tries very hard to ensure that the first impression is that the hotel is charmingly stylish (but also smells old-fashioned). The rooms are similar to Air BnB apartments, so the price level of the hotel is an absolute disgrace. The only positive thing is the breakfast offered, but you have to be careful not to get a comment: “please don't take too much, there has to be enough for the other guests”. The cleanliness and functionality of the room furnishings leave a lot to be desired. I do not recommend this overnight house.

The only thing that was good is the breakfast. But here too you will be reprimanded if you are very hungry and take one more croissant. It's impossible how guests are treated here and which conflicts are fought within earshot.

Horrified and disappointed. The hotel is in a dilapidated condition. The photos on the internet and the reviews do not correspond to reality. It's dirty, the rooms aren't cleaned properly, the towels are very old. The price is a disgrace for the performance offered.

Das Literaturhotel Berlin offers a unique and charming experience in the heart of Berlin. Its Biedermeier-style furnishings and literary theme create a distinctive ambiance that guests adore. Individually decorated rooms, filled with books and artwork, provide a cozy and personalized retreat. The hotel's central location in Friedenau allows for easy access to attractions while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere. Although some rooms might be on the smaller side, the overall experience is one of warmth and character. This hotel is a perfect choice for literature lovers and those seeking a unique and intimate stay in Berlin.

A lot of famous writers lived in Friedenau at some point, so it wasn't a bad idea to nickname hotel Friedenau das Literaturhotel (a whole wall is dedicated to the writers in question). But that's not the only good thing about this family-run hotel: it has a lovely garden, excellent breakfast in a room with old world charm and the rooms are more interesting than average. And that's without mentioning the hospitality of the people who own and run it, or the leafy, stylish neighborhood where it is situated. Far from the centre of town, but the S-Bahn is round the corner and the metro isn't too far off either. Very goo restaurants at a stone's throw. Not exactly cheap but worth every penny.

Unique location! Three Nobel Prize winners for literature, Max Frisch, Erich Kästner and Rosa Luxemburg, among others, lived here. At night it was quieter than in my village!
