The youth hostel was really, really solid. The food was, well... the rooms weren't great either. We almost got stabbed by Talahons while they were high and drunk but it's in the middle of the old town which is great

The youth hostel is in a great location. Ideal for school trips. In the middle of the old town and directly on the city wall. This means it is not far to the free parking lot. The breakfast was good, the staff very friendly. The rooms are a bit dated but the mattresses are clean and comfortable. Our room had a sink and, strangely, a shower. The sanitary facilities on the floor are clean and modern. We'll be back!

It's a normal youth hostel with good access to the center of the city, and there's nothing special about it, including the facilities. You can soon climb the castle walls and walk on the sidewalk.

Stayed in the second building with a school group of 26, and for lack of a better term, it was apalling. There was no air conditioning and it was extremely hot; we had to keep the windows open and there were many loud people outside. There were also people running around and screaming in the halls at night, and it is very echo-ey so that woke us all up. The doors to the rooms were extremely finnicky and the wood they were made of seemed to be rotting; someone could have easily kicked in the door. The showers and bathroom smelled terrible, and there was mold in the showers. The showers were not at all private - there was a huge open window into them. The showers didn't have any sort of shower head, it was legitimately just a spout that, if you even barely turned on, blasted a painful jet of water at you. A group of boys in our group had an insect infestation in their room (they hadn't opened any windows, there were just bugs crawling through them). There were 50+ insects in each of the beds, under the pillows, on the floor and flying around. There was no one at the front desk and we couldn't reach anyone by the number listed, so we ended up rearranging rooms and some of the boys left to sleep in a hotel for the night. The common areas are also very creepy and deserted. The common area kn our building was the only place with WLAN and air conditioning, and there was an abandoned reception desk, a small coffee table and two worn, stained couches as well as another room with abandoned game tables and nothing to play them with (i.e. pool, ping pong, etc.). Overall for such a high price this place is absolutely terrible. Don't stay here, you'll be much happier if you spend your money and time somewhere else.

Our room was in an annex building, a good 100m away from the main building. The bed linen is only available in the main house; In the adjoining building you save this service. There are guests who pay around EUR 90 per night and are happy to walk back and forth as a free fitness bonus (unfortunately they "forgot" to tell us about this upon arrival). By the way, paid (!) towels are also only available in the main building (also "unfortunately forgotten" after I was at the reception a third time). By the way, walking the paths several times with your once clean and dry laundry when you're still pretty exhausted from the journey is especially fun when it rains...The dining room is very uncomfortable and unfortunately does not have that rustic youth hostel charm that the old facade suggests. Spaces that are far too narrow and chairs that are constantly on the tables don't make it any more comfortable. At least the quality of the breakfast was ok.Parking is only available outside the old city walls (paid public car park - 5 minutes walk from the hostel).

The location and the view from the room are truly unbeatable! The room furnishings are a bit outdated and very basic, and unfortunately there are no curtains or shutters. The breakfast was okay, the dinner was unfortunately rather poor. The service wasn't great either, we know better from youth hostels.The location and the fact that you are right in the city on foot made up for a lot

This place was disgusting and dirty, there were a lot of spiders in the rooms and we don't even need to talk about the food, we were given the same thing from day to day, so it was a disgrace.

The sky would be worse then,WiFi so slow, as if it were an ant racer.Sockets are in short supply, rooms are like a cave,Rollo? Nothing, the sun shines here, yeah, that's missing!Heaters? Freezing is the order of the day here,Showers and toilets, what have you gotten yourself into?Toilets stink like hell, the shower is a scary place,Better to sleep outside, that would really be the gold standard, immediately!A star? Too much, more like a warning to everyoneMinus ten stars, that would be the correct number.Rotenburg, you screwed up, down to the last detail,Bed game is so whack, sleep is a terrible torture here.

Room totally trashed. The bathroom was moldy, the side house was always far away from the main house, everything was broken and ancient. Furniture dirty and stained. I know barracks rooms from the 80s that had more flair and comfort. The rule here is that every euro is squeezed out. Something like that shouldn't run under the DJH.... The price for it is a bad joke. Parking only possible in a parking lot far away. There are cheaper and significantly better accommodations in Rothenburg. Look there first, not here. The current 5* fake reviews are absolutely bogus and lies. Is is by far the worst JH in Germany

Hello, we were here with a group of 10 people. The location is wonderful. The rooms and toilets/washrooms are clean. Breakfast couldn't be better in a hotel. Getting into the beds and staying in the “next building” is no problem. We would definitely come again.

Very good location, friendly staff. I booked a bed in a 5-bed room, at €33.50 a night including breakfast, not exactly cheap despite having a youth hostel card. The room was in the youth hostel's annex building ("Spitalhof"), which is 50 m away. So bed linen (towels are not provided!) was fetched from the basement of the main building and carried over. No fun when it rains.The room is old and run down. Bunk beds with thin mattresses that you can make yourself. Not suitable for people heavier than me (75 kg). At night it was very noisy until half past four due to party noise and arguments, and that was during the week.The bathrooms were on the opposite side of the building. There are enough clean toilets. But there was only one shower for men (two for women) on my floor, which is not enough. In addition, the ceiling of the shower was covered in mold.All in all it was okay, the situation saves a lot. If you find another accommodation in a similar location and price, take a look.

Underground youth hostel! Everything is completely old and in need of renovation! The prices are complete nonsense, simply completely outrageous! Peter Giesel should take a look at this store, beware of rip-offs! Nothing is done with love and heart here, the operators of this JH apparently only have dollar signs in their eyes! Even Mr. Krabs and Mr. Burns can learn something from each other when it comes to the topic of “stinginess”! Here the guest is allowed to clean the room, drag their bed linen back and forth hundreds of meters across the street, put the chairs up and down in the dining room, etc... The meal plan is very simple and uncreative, and it doesn't taste good either. The furniture is also falling into disrepair and the caretakers seem to have no idea at all about their work when you look at the "repairs". The interior design = no feel-good atmosphere, rather cold and empty. The “lounge room” and the games there are in disrepair and no one cares about it. The only people who felt comfortable here were the bugs, spiders and ants in our room and the mold in the shower, as well as the martens/rats on the roof. It's a shame about the youth hostel, such a great location and a beautiful house, but unfortunately it's completely run down by someone who seems to have no idea at all about the hotel industry, management and hospitality. No recommendation!

This youth hostel scores points for its location alone. Another positive thing to note is the friendliness of the employees at the reception.Otherwise a stay in this youth hostel is catastrophic. Even if you know the lower category of a youth hostel and don't expect comfort - there is still one floor below. It's really a shame about the beautiful house in a great location.The rooms are dirty, full of dust and dirt in the corners, some lamps are broken. Apart from that, renovation is urgently needed.WiFi only in the dining room, which is really not up to date.The showers are moldy in every corner and joint, but the shower jet is like a high-pressure cleaner.The breakfast meets only a minimum of requirements. Cheapest baked rolls, rusks and cheap chocolate spread. To do this, disguise yourself with 3 organic jams. The butter pieces had already expired for more than 4 weeks! Coffee was out at 9am. When asked if there was still coffee, the answer was no. Breakfast is officially served until 9:30. The next day it turned out that the coffee was so bad that we could avoid it altogether. Fresh fruit: A box of mealy apples. Phew, we were happy to be able to go home again and will definitely not be coming back again. The culmination of this truly lousy performance is the fact that it is very, very expensive to stay as a family (even compared to upgraded JH!).A number of other youth hostels show that things can be done differently in historic houses, for example Nuremberg - a great, modern and remarkably well-run youth hostel in which you can feel at home.

Insane price for the worst hostel experience ever. Just pay a little more to avoid this place, you will enjoy rothenburg much more. Trust me, it was so bad that I changed to another accommodation after 1 night. Room is not clean and not comfortable, no Internet, noisy at night.

Very overpriced.I was there with 4 friends, although the fixed price on the Internet for a 5-person room was 35 euros a night apart from the real price, despite having a DJH card.The room was outdated and the run-down bathrooms were at the other end of the building, there wasn't even a sink in our room.For the real price of the room you could have easily stayed in a hotel with a private bathroom, a nice room and good food.I have no problem staying one night in a spartan youth hostel to save money on a city trip. However, if the youth hostel is significantly more expensive than a cheap hotel, even with a DJH card, and is also equipped like a classic, outdated youth hostel, the whole concept of this facility no longer makes sense to me.
