There were some small spiders. The breakfast is very good. The location is good as well. Some staff were helpful, and others were just weird.

Modern construction but compared to other youth hostels Heidelberg clearly falls short, the house disappointed us. The furnishings - especially the common areas - seem careless and cold, uninviting. We've gotten to know breakfast much better in other houses, the coffee was terrible (soluble). We will not vote for her again.

Not easy to find such bad coffee these days . Breakfast is at bottom of DJH scales. Friendly people, however.

Be careful when booking via Booking.com!! Supposedly cheap prices are allegedly offered including taxes and fees. However, you have to take out an annual membership on site for 22.50 euros. The supposedly cheap room quickly becomes 30% more expensive.

-Deduct money from my credit card for services that were not provided.-When I asked, I could not be given any information as to how the amount debited came about.Edit 10/12/24: Are you threatening the police? What should they do in a private law case other than nothing? You could simply clarify this if you sent me the booking confirmation on which the debit is based, as requested by email yesterday.

Location top - recommended for visitors to the zoo and the clinic because of the location as well as for sports groups and youth groupsRecommendation for young people (youth hostel)We had better experiences at another DJH as a family with a small child. We are aware that it is a "youth hostel". The experience may be better with older children. The family room only deserved the name because it had 2 double bunk beds.In our opinion, the “family” aspect and needs were given little consideration in this DJH see “Rooms”.- Beds uncomfortable- Room colorless, transparent curtains+ Games room fine+ strict nighttime rest, very quiet around 11 p.m+ Breakfast buffet and food+ Location to the zoo and clinic+ the friendly staffBecause of the location near the zoo, we would come back, but since we value a good night's sleep, it would be welcome if the family room concept (possibly a double or single room) were equipped differently than the rooms for large booking groups.

Apart from the fact that I like to stay in youth hostels anyway, I can highly recommend the Heidelberg ones. When the weather is nice, you can sit on the sunny terrace for breakfast and look into the elephant enclosure. The breakfast is appetizing and plentiful with everything you could wish for. The youth hostel tea also tasted much better than Dr. Hirschhausen is something to consider.I slept in four different rooms because I always extended at short notice. The rooms in the new building were smaller, but quieter.Overall, the youth hostel is highly recommended, from the service at the reception to the pillows :-)There are a lot of vending machines on the ground floor that provide drinks and snacks and are always well stocked. The most important thing for me was the direct proximity to the children's clinic, the youth hostel is great.

Unfortunately, the rooms were dirty and disgusting (boogers on the pillows, leftover chips in the bed, hair in the shower, toothpaste leftovers on the tap,...). The breakfast was good.
