Overall it's fine, it was clean, it was just lacking in some basics that you come to expect at your bed when travelling.ConsLumpy pillow, no plug in, no shelf (this is a bit of a struggle for ppl on the top bunk). no attachment for shower head in the bathroom (you have to hold it yourself - they say it's to conserve water, but I see it as an accessibility issue). extremely loud beep from door lock when unlocking to go into the room, the room door also slams shut so anytime someone goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night you are woken up by the sounds of that.ProsLocker in room, friendly staff, shared kitchen available for use*Note there is no lift here*

Felt very safe running alone at night/morning; Didn't know any hostels in Germany that usually had US guests in the morning. I found it striking that the kitchen didn't say hello, and the accommodation couldn't do anything about that. No free tea or coffee!I would come again

The location is quite good. In St. Pauli, on a quiet street and not far from the Reeperbahn. A bus runs every 5 minutes. Security is good: access to the hostel and rooms only with a chip card. Locker and key is provided. The checkout time at 11am is good.Making and removing the bed linen yourself is fine and ensures a low price per night. The curtains are hardly blackout at all. So you should take a sleeping mask with you.Check-in was hamburger-style direct. Maybe not for someone who expects a lot of kindness. There was mold in several places in the shower.A group in a room said they had to play loud music at 2:30 a.m. It is also recommended to take earplugs with you.

Great hostel, service is inconsistent but still accommodating, unfortunately the cleanliness of some surfaces is not compliant and is known for allergies. Great location, ok price.. but still probably one of the most interesting hostels Hamburg has to offer.

Here we go: checked in on Saturday morning. The employee kindly gave me the room card and a key for the locker and I was able to put my suitcase under the stairs (there is no luggage room). When I came back in the evening around 11 p.m. I was faced with the problem that the door couldn't be opened with the chip card. So far so good. I tried several times without success. Then I called the only number I could find for the hostel with the result that if no one answered, no one would be working and they should send you an email if you have any inquiries. I tried to reach someone 5 more times without success. After two women kindly let me in, I tried my luck at my room door without success. At least I was able to access my suitcase, which luckily was still under the stairs. I booked another hostel for the night because I didn't want to stay on the floor in front of my room until someone came who happened to live there.I would have liked a contact person who was available outside opening hours. Unfortunately there is no shame!

No social atmosphere if you are looking for that. Location is close to bars and clubs. It is good enough if you just want to have a bed for 2 nights max. Hostel Bar closes at 10pm. Beds are old, noisy and uncomfortable. No power sockets at every bed to charge your phone.
