We were guests in this hotel as a family for 7 days. Price-performance ratio is really unique for this region and we had the largest hotel room we have ever had in a hotel. The breakfast buffet was also great, always with small variations in sausage, cheese and honey. Overall, everything you need is there. I'm still waiting in vain for my order for a soft-boiled egg.Reception always manned when we came over. The rooms were clean and only had clearly visible signs of wear in one place or another, especially in the door frame. But well, that doesn't bother us too much. Unfortunately, one of the slatted frames squeaked a lot, which wasn't quite as nice, but we reported it.The swimming pool was also nice, we didn't use the sauna. We really liked the child-friendliness of the hotel. The offspring often received a little attention from the staff or a special request was fulfilled. We're happy to give 5 stars for that alone. The location is also ideal. It is around 800m on foot to the historic city center, and various hiking trails can also be reached within a kilometer. Although we didn't ride a bike, you could rent one from the hotel at a fair price.Thank you for hosting us and greetings from Upper Lusatia! We will definitely recommend it if anyone wants to go on holiday in that direction!

We found the hotel good with friendly staff also at the reception. Went twice within 3 weeks with different friends who also really liked it. The renovated rooms are nice and clean. It was a nice short vacation in a pleasant atmosphere. We'd love to come back again

Good, well-maintained hotel near the old town of Gengenbach.Dinner was good. The service still has room for improvement - but this was partly due to a lack of staff due to illness. Unfortunately, the “last round” was announced in the bar on Saturday at around 10 p.m.Good breakfast offering.Wellness/indoor pool is available - but we didn't use it.Great value for money in my opinion.

Very nice hotel, nice rooms, top swimming pool and sauna and very courteous service. Free parking, easily accessible by car and a 5-minute walk from the old town.

First of all: recommendation. – Business overnight stay in Gengenbach. The hotel is much more attractive from the inside than from the outside. – The rooms are good to very good; all with balconies. Check-in was pleasant and problem-free after I had previously booked by phone. – The breakfast buffet is very broad and leaves nothing to be desired. In the evening I treated myself to a meal in the restaurant, which was excellent. – Overall, the hotel is very well furnished and with great attention to detail. I liked it very much.

That was one of the strangest hotel nights ever: we stayed here while passing through. Only after booking did the nice lady inform us that the restaurant was closed. At 5 a.m. the fire alarm went off. …

The three of us arrived in beautiful Gengenbach shortly before a heavy rainfall. After parking and securing our motorbikes we headed to reception where we were met by a cheery member of staff who soon had us directed to our rooms. …

I've been to the Black Forest Hotel five times. I really enjoyed going back home this time. Although I had already reduced from 10 to 7 days. From the chambermaids, to the kitchen, to the service in the restaurant to the reception, friendly, nice and competent staff.Unfortunately, it gives long-term guests the impression that short-term guests are preferred. Every year I requested that the rules be posted in the sauna. Several times a day, guests walk in directly from the bathroom wearing bathing suits. There is still no response to my email to GL from April 2024.Unfortunately, that was it for me.Keep it up. Thank you.

Nice new hotel, but the restaurant deserves a very poor rating in terms of price/quality! Two fatty schnitzels with a huge load of fries without any garnish or sauce for €35, van der Valk does better! Too bad, there are better restaurants in the area, this is a culinary catastrophe! Friendly service.
