You want a perfect restaurant, here you have a perfect restaurant!The ambience is immediately comfortable, the waiter immediately welcomes you with a quick saying and you immediately feel right at home. The food is absolutely top quality for which you can easily pay over €20!So absolute recommendation!

My wife and I had dinner here, apparently it said on the door outside in the dark that payment could only be made in cash. If you come here for the first time, this is not exactly what you are looking at in 2024. I bring this up because this became the problem at the end of our dinner. At checkout we wanted to pay by card. Unfortunately this was not possible and we immediately felt very embarrassed. We made this known and asked where we could get cash. This was 'only' a short distance down the mountain in the center. A discussion ensued and unfortunately no alternative. Discussions took place afterwards and we felt very watched, even though you had said: it is written on the door or whatever... how can this happen to us? After consultation, someone comes to our table in his shorts (clearly forced by the staff, and also unclear who he is). We indicate that we have a problem and all he says is: yes, you have a problem. Not us (with a laugh). Which really makes him even more of an embarrassment as a guest. Finally, after some time, we can transfer it to a bank account. However, because this goes to a foreign account number, it can take a little longer, often the next day. If I just walk to the bar myself and ask if we can leave after showing proof, we can wait a little longer until the best man comes back. He takes a photo of the payment and explains to us that there is no DSL cable to the restaurant on the mountain.... I have really never felt so embarrassed in a restaurant.

We have made reservation on phone in english, as foreigners. When we arrived after a whole day driving we were guided to our table and even got english menu. Ordered wine and beer and after finishing our food we wanted to pay they told us they don’t accept card. They told us to drive down from the mountains to the closest city where is an ATM to pick up cash. Even the waitress knew we had alcohol already and it’s not allowed to drive in Germany with a glass of beer. Since both of us had alcohol this was not an option. In the end we could transfer money to the owner’s bank account, but they wanted to keep us there until the money arrives, but since we are from different country this could have taken a day or more. In the end we could leave by showing the bank receipt on the phone. They treated us really rude for something they have not informed us ahead. 0 points for hospitality; pity to end up our night like this.

Facilities and ambience confirmed x times.Service is friendly, but the boss seems a bit fake. You feel irritated for the moment because the place is more or less empty and the first question is: have you made a reservation?Ordered a Tyrolean bacon plate, visually great but with white bread (not possible)!!!Beer price outrageous...(over €5)

We tried the day before yesterday after checking in at the hotel at 4 p.m.!!! to get a table at the Holzkäfer restaurant. As soon as we entered the restaurant we saw that all tables were reserved from 6, 7 or 8 p.m. When we asked whether a table might be available for us from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., the boss reacted so unfriendlyly, I've never experienced anything like that. INCREDIBLE how they deal with people there who simply ask politely whether it would be possible to get a table without a reservation. A simple “unfortunately we are fully reserved” would have been enough. After the “nice” lady was able to deign to offer us a table, she underwent an Oscar-worthy metamorphosis. Suddenly she was exaggerated and artificially sweet. However, there was no apology for her previous behavior. The food was average at best and very overpriced. The highlight was that almost the entire restaurant remained empty during our 2 hour stay. It was only 4 p.m. The lady's initial excitement was even less understandable for us. It's a shame, this lady will never see us again.

Five stars plus glitter. Super great welcome, really great menu - something for every taste. The food is delicious, the service is exemplary - attentive and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is very nice and harmonious. Price-performance = top. A model of hospitality.

Great service, great quality of food! We'll be back! 👍Update from September 27th, 2024:We also had to realize that something was no longer right here.Not even because of the quality, but because of the service.Unfortunately, if the boss doesn't do it, no one will!While the waitresses hung around the bar bored, the boss took the order, asked about drinks, took reservations in between, had conversations with suppliers and then collected the money!Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to write here what I would do with such employees...

Unfortunately we arrived high up on the mountain in the rain, but the location is outstanding. Just getting there is adventurous and you will be rewarded with a great view.The menu has traditional Austrian/Bavarian dishes. The service was ok, not particularly flexible when it came to special requests.The food was good, the children were kindly given food early so that they wouldn't starve.Even on a Wednesday when the weather was moderate, there was a huge rush of guests. Unfortunately the apricot dumplings were not homemade ;(The ambience is modern traditional.The wood beetle is already worth the trip.Attention: we only accepted cash payments!!

At the end of a great day we had dinner at Holzkäfer, which was just a stone's throw away from our hotel and we were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere is rustic, cozy and furnished with great attention to detail. The service girls were super friendly. The food was super tasty. Keep it up, you're great 👌🏻A year later and still great. Visited the wood beetle again on vacation and had dinner twice. Friendly and funny service and the food is also delicious.We'd love to come back.
