Not recommended at all.Pictures on the website wow. The reality is absolutely poor.A hotel stands or falls with the furnishings of the guest rooms and the associated restaurant. When you arrive you are told that it is a Garni hotel, in complete contrast to the website. Means: Restaurant closed. The room is extremely small and completely unsuitable, with inappropriate, oversized furniture left over somewhere (wardrobe with no shelves, only a continuous clothes rail for hangers) and so close to the bed that the doors can only be opened to a very limited extent. A bedside cabinet was actually unusable because it was blocked by the wardrobe. Light switches mostly don't work (only one on the door for the main light). Bedside lamps without switches. These can be activated in sockets behind the bedside table. So there is actually no sensible option to turn on any lights in the dark. Disastrous to seriously offer something like that.Although the house was only very clearly occupied, no other room could be made available. According to the statements, that would have taken a long time because the remaining rooms were not prepared. Inability? Displeasure? The “clear” breakfast buffet did the rest. Why were the actually packaged pieces of butter served unpacked even though the rest of the packaged goods were presented in their original unopened form? One can only speculate (best before?).Since Schmiedefeld was apparently no longer able to meet the standards of previous years, we quickly left this, all in all, inhospitable place early.

So the house is in a good location for the slopes. That's the big plus point. But if the weather doesn't cooperate in the winter season, it will be difficult. The big problem. The house is on the back burner. Plus it's significantly more expensive than a cozy apartment in town. But you get an okay breakfast. Average rooms and a really nicely done wellness area. Sauna is turned on as needed. But: The pool was permanently unheated! My child would have had a lot of fun there for hours, but you can only last 5 minutes in there. It's a shame, it costs a whole star. The on-site support is very nice, but we also know that a lot of things could be better.

A one women show of one person. Hats off. The hotel doesn't deserve the name. Oh my god. Location is cool, but this building can't do anything about it. I would only recommend this facility to people I don't like. Too bad. Here wellness takes on a completely new meaning.

I had booked a double room with bathroom 4 hours before our arrival. We got a tiny room under the attic and the bathroom was on the other side of the hallway. Given the number of guests, there must have been enough others available. At the reception I was told that the others weren't ready and that it would take a while if she had to finish them too. In the morning there was a Mickringes breakfast, only the bare essentials. The outdoor area was very unkempt. Only parking wasn't a problem, lots of space and few guests.

Quiet location, nice staff, breakfast OK. Were the only guests in mid-August 2023. Schmiedefeld seems to have significantly fewer visitors than before. Maybe that explains the underoccupancy and emptiness.

We held this year's rescue dog meeting in schmiedefeld am Rennsteig. Rescue dogs from all over Germany and Austria were guests in schmiedefeld. Enjoyed 5 days of great service. Daniela helped with everything and made this event a huge success. Great rooms great breakfast. We will come back outside of this event.

Absolutely not recommended! We had booked 2 standard double rooms with bathrooms. However, one of the two rooms did not have an integrated bathroom, but was on the opposite side of the hallway. We were not informed of this when we booked, but only when we checked in. - It was very annoying every time I had to get fully dressed and then unlock the bathroom. In addition, the headboard of the bed in this room was broken and the WiFi was poor.To make matters worse, the spa area was also closed.Unfortunately, no comment was made on the deficiencies. A pity!It was positive that a milk substitute was provided, but you had to specify it when booking. - but should be standard these days.
