We can't understand the bad reviews. It's an old house that just has a certain smell. Our room was clean (without mold) and functional. There was TV, hairdryer, liquid soap/shower bath, tissues, good WiFi. The furnishings are certainly a bit old, but the price-performance ratio is right. You can take the bus (201/202) from the train station to the "Alter Wolf" stop every 5 minutes on weekdays or walk along the castle over the pedestrian bridge in the Auto-Stadt to the train station in 25 minutes. There is no staff on site, hence the attached pictures as instructions. It's best to request the code for the key machine (see photo) by email early on the day of arrival, then you save yourself having to contact us on site. Be careful, there is an old key safe that doesn't work. You then just have to turn around to see the new machine on the other side. Works great. Then follow the plan around the corner to the entrance (see photo). We would stay here again. It's only a little dark walking through the park in the evening, so the cell phone flashlight helps.

Quiet location right next to a park near Wolfsburg Castle. Autostadt can be reached quickly. The positives.||The negatives:|Where to start here. No staff on site, which is not noted in the offer. …

Known hornet nests are not removed! Windows have to stay closed even in midsummer! For us, the proximity to the castle sheds was the argument for checking in here for one night (honeymoon night), as it was only 200m to the location. We knew this wasn't going to be a modern fancy hotel, but convenience was paramount for many reasons. What can we say, it was a huge disappointment across the board. When we came back from the party at 3 a.m. it was quite stuffy in the room, so we opened the windows. After 1 minute there were already 3 hornets in our room that we couldn't get out. Nowhere was there any warning in our room that this danger of a nest (three hornets don't arrive at once by chance) would exist. Guests at our celebration reported that they had received a warning notice referring to the hornet's nest. In our opinion, both are outrageous and dangerous. A hotel must ensure that a known hornet's nest is professionally relocated immediately! As a result, we had to leave the hotel in the middle of the night and check into the Premier Inn.If that's not bad enough, the customer service of this hotel/hotel chain goes one better. To this day, every time we make a phone call we are brushed off and either referred to the head office or the hotel itself. Insight is not available.I can only strongly advise against this hotel, the rooms are old, there is no air conditioning, there is no reception and there is no service.

Unfortunately, Old Wolf is as the name suggests... old, the rooms urgently need an overhaul. But the location is very good, despite being close to the B188 it is nice and quiet.

Unfortunately I paid in advance.Tomorrow I will ask for a refund and room change. When we arrived at 11.45pm there was no one to welcome us, we had anticipated it so it doesn't matter, given that we have the code to get the keys and enter. Let's take rooms 27 and 28; we enter and find all the lights dismantled, impossible to turn on the light in both rooms! We tried to reassemble them but the electrical system doesn't work.I had to use my PC as a backup battery for my smartphone. There is a mobile number to write on WhatsApp, I did but no response. Even when I try to call, no one answers. Even calling the number on Google, no signal. It looks like an abandoned place!Perfect location for horror films!I wonder how such a structure can still remain open.Furthermore, the breakfast restaurant is not active so I will also experience this disruption tomorrow. The only consolation is the Wifi! So I took the opportunity to write this excellent review. In the photo: All the ceiling lights in the room were dismantled and the light was not working!

Never again 'Old Wolf'!I arrive there one afternoon in the middle of the week. It's raining, the main entrance is closed. Number fields to tap on, no explanation anywhere! I walk around the house or both houses in the rain, all the doors closed. My son calls the hotel and is told they need a code for the number pad. OH...!!I called there the day before to clarify the parking issue. Couldn't they have given me the code??!Going in with the code to the side entrance, the next shock: my room is on the 4th floor, no elevator! You should have mentioned that when booking. Not everyone can climb 4 floors with luggage. When I arrive upstairs in a musty room, I first open a window and then go out of the house to the family meeting. When I return in the evening I notice that there is no glass of water to brush my teeth, so I go back to the restaurant. TO!! There was a note on the door saying the restaurant was closed and you could have breakfast at the bakery so-and-so.I found 79 euros too much for that. The only positive thing was the bed, which was okay.

2024: Since it was my 4th stay at the Alten Wolf since 2018, I can assess the prices and performance well.During the last stays, breakfast was at least included and there was a reception with people.Check-in and check-out are now carried out completely without staff. Expedia had not sent me the required code for the key machine, so I only received it via a phone call. The rooms are very worn out, as they have been for years, so the price is significantly too high without breakfast available. The joints in the leaky shower tray urgently need to be freed from mold.At least the free parking on site is positive.Review from 2019: Don't expect luxury for the price. The hotel is located right next to the castle park. The furniture is a bit worn, but the rooms were clean and perfectly fine for the cheapest price.

Yes, there is a musty smell down in the entrance, which probably comes from the basement! It's just an old building! But there was no sign of this in room 6 on the second floor. Room was enough for one person, bathroom 🛁 clean and big enough. The location is great right next to the castle park and very quiet. I got the key by calling using a code, which worked without any problems.

Rooms are ok.But it was allowed. If you don't feel like spending half an hour searching before you get to your room, you shouldn't spend the night here.Breakfast cannot be found either. No signage, nothing. There are no staff on site.Unfortunately, since I'm on Mondays and don't have time to spend 30 minutes looking for breakfast, that's probably cancelled.Overall, I wouldn't come back here.
