Not recommended, the building has no old building charm as described but rather a renovation backlog. Moldy smell and very clammy atmosphere.

Even the one star is still far too good, -5 stars would be appropriate. This sports hotel wouldn't even be approved as a homeless shelter.Even the smell when you enter the house tells you something is wrong...❗Absolutely not recommended❗

**I liked:Late check was possible without any problems. I booked around 9:30 p.m.Mobile contact via cell phone for check-in was possible without any problems at this time.Check-in at around 11 p.m. after calling on site was carried out without any problems. The operator is very polite and friendly. Everything was explained over the phone without any hassle. Time was taken for this. That was very positive.Checkout is hassle-free and requires no effort. The location is nice. The Oker runs parallel to the street behind the facility. It is possible and recommended to go for a walk early in the morning or at another time of day.The furnishings are functionally decorated in a classic style. If you're looking for a modern, upscale style, this isn't the right place for you.I was here with my son. For us it is important to have a clean, warm place to stay at a good, affordable price.2 clean beds + clean towels + warm water in the shower => Perfect. The lounges are charmingly furnished like grandparents of a previous generation. We found it very charming and took the opportunity to watch a bit of TV there. Thank you.In the lounges there were two types of tea to choose from and the option to boil water. We thought that was very good.**Constructive suggestions for improvement:1) Unfortunately WiFi didn't work. It would be great if the staff could check this during the day.2) It was relatively cold in the lounges. It would be nice if the heating could be turned on manually if necessary or would start automatically at certain room temperatures.3) There were only very small cups for coffee/tea. It would be great if larger standard tea cups (0.3 liters) were also offered. Thanks.4) It didn't bother us that all the heating/water pipes are plastered. Everyone has to decide that for themselves. For me, functionality, safety and cleanliness are important. In my opinion, this is largely the case here.5) The lighting in the hallway on the upper floor should possibly be switched off automatically during the day for sustainability reasons.

It was just enough to sleep. But you don't want to stay there. Cleanliness is definitely not a priority here. Next time it would be better to choose another accommodation.

We were able to get a room for Saturday on Friday evening, which was very spontaneous. Otherwise, the guesthouse is very nice and quietly located in the Harz Mountains. I like it very much!

The presentation of the accommodation online borders on fraud! The accommodation itself is completely run down and is only operated for the purpose of ripping off people. All supply lines are plastered, but not because of the “charm of the 70s”, which is only reminiscent of the smell throughout the house, but rather like a construction site that is not finished. The heaters don't work, hot water doesn't need to be mixed when showering. Here, the conditions for makeshift accommodation were created with minimal effort. No service (dinner or breakfast)! The fitness area consists of three dilapidated exercise machines that are as old as the house. The innkeeper is superficially accommodating and friendly on the phone, but he wriggles out of responsibility like an eel.I arrived completely exhausted after a 30 km hike at 8:30 p.m. and was hoping for a small snack or at least a drink, to buy of course! The answer I got from the “friendly” receptionist was: “We didn’t have any food, nor did we have breakfast. If you don't like this, you can look for something else!"After a phone call with the boss, he offered toast with egg for breakfast for 8 euros.I was also accused of rioting because my backpack accidentally fell against the door when I put it down. I was also able to avert the threat of security for the supposedly “threatened” employee.I then decided to just stay overnight. To be fair, the bed was excellent (both mattress and cover)! The rest is just unreasonable! Not an option even for “extra cheap”!

We visited the hotel 2.5 months ago. The room was clean, but the beds were so lumpy that you couldn't sleep and had back problems. After politely pointing this out to the owner (without asking for his money back or reducing the price), we received personal insults via email. We have never experienced anything like this!

We booked the hotel quite spontaneously for two nights because we wanted to visit the Christmas market in Goslar. The owner told me on the phone that the room needed to be heated up first, but since we wouldn't be arriving for another three to four hours, that wouldn't be a problem. When we checked in we had the landlord on the phone who gave us the code for the key box. It was so cold in the hallway, your breath was in your mouth. The entire hotel was empty, we were the only guests. When we arrived in the room we didn't immediately notice how cold the room was, we came from outside and the cold hallway. The central heating was turned off and there was a small space heater in the room. At first we tried to make the best of the situation, but quickly realized that it was unbearable. The floor, the room and the bathroom, even the bed linen, everything was freezing cold. After all, it was minus 10 degrees in Altenau that night. We called the landlord and told him we wanted to leave because it was unbearable. He had absolutely no understanding of it; he wanted to put a second heater in the room. We rejected this because it wouldn't have helped and we don't want to leave the devices running overnight. After a short time a very nice employee came and accompanied us outside. The owner didn't show up. Since we had to pay the money for the two nights in advance via PayPal, we of course asked for this back. Half of the money was kept by the landlord, saying that he had had a hard time and that we only left because we were too bored. This is absolutely not true, the only reason was the incredible cold.Be careful, we had to transfer more via PayPal than the rooms cost on Booking! We can only advise against vacationing in this hotel, we lost a lot of money and were very disappointed. The cleanliness wasn't the best either, dirty glasses, cobwebs and dust. We would have overlooked that, but not the bad cold.
