Atmosphere is horribleThe youth hostel was still tolerable. Rooms were reasonable for a youth hostel but there would have been more in it, the shower almost didn't drain. But you don't want to stay there for more than sleeping. The big problem is the food, it wasn't actually edible, so I had to switch to butter bread every morning and evening because the other food wasn't edible, and I'm happy that I'm out of there againAnd wouldn't come back

My week-long stay at the Schiercke youth hostel was mediocre to okay. The rooms: (room 109)In contrast to the other youth hostels I have seen so far, the rooms were normally well furnished. The bed linen, which you had to pick up at reception, was partly stained. There was some damage in the room e.g. small holes in the walls. Furthermore, none of the bed lamps worked. When asked further, the caretaker came by and replaced all the light bulbs. There were only 2 sockets in the entire room for 4 people. One socket was used to ensure our room lighting. The bathroom was relatively clean and well furnished. The floor actually looked pretty clean and smelled neutral. However, the shower had black mold in the corners and there was a suspicious stain on the shower stall door. Neither of the two heaters in our room worked. The food:The food makes a good and fresh impression in all senses. A few hours after eating our meal, my fellow travelers (myself included) reported severe stomach cramps. You can already imagine the result after a few days...There was a new juice from the tap every day. There is also a vending machine with filtered drinking water. There was hot water, sparkling water, still water, cold water and boiling water.Miscellaneous:We rented a common room with a tube TV for our 1 week stay. This had tables and chairs. There was also a piano in the room, but it was locked. Unfortunately, the key could not be handed over to us because, according to the reception, it was lost. The Hartz National Park was close to the youth hostel. The nature in the national park was truly amazing.Warning:When traveling to the youth hostels in the Saxony area and the surrounding area, you should be aware that you may potentially have right-wing extremist experiences. That's what happened to me and my friends in the youth hostel. (However, DJH Jugendherberge Schiercke is not responsible for such disputes and cannot control them in any way. We respect this.)

When I read the reviews before traveling, I was a bit afraid of what to expect there. The staff was actually quite nice. The rooms were as you would expect from a youth hostel. Unfortunately there were yellow stains and crumbs on the beds. The bathrooms were very dirty. For example, there was something brown smeared on the sink, or the same thing on the toilet. The food wasn't bad. To be honest it was delicious. I thought the location was nice because of the view. I didn't think the stream outside the youth hostel was a good fit because the noise meant you couldn't sleep with the window open. Even if this has nothing to do with the youth hostel, I would like to say that. Many children at the youth hostel were very aggressive. Some dark-skinned children and Asian children were insulted. My class was also threatened that we would be beaten up. But overall the youth hostel wasn't bad.

The place was like a adoption center for kids from 10-18. The food was absolutely disgusting and smelled like it was 2 years old and the bread was like plastic with some fake butter. The plates were dirty and it felt like you were going to throw up. The rooms were very ugly and there were poop in the toilet and the bed sheets were dirty and disgusting. The kids that lived there were always running around and playing. There was even a night where the kids came in to our room when we were sleeping. So remember to lock your door whenever you go out or go to sleep. The people working there didn’t even talk to us and they didn’t know any English. And it was stinky and smelly everywhere and you felt like you were gonna throw up every minute. The city was very boring. There were not many things you could do and there aren’t any good transportation because the bus comes every 2 hours. But you can take a walk in the beautiful mountains or explore the city that aren’t that big. There is an arena that is very nice and I will recommend you to go there if you have kids. If you don’t want to eat at the hostel you can go down to a supermarket 10 minutes away where you can get snacks and very good food so you don’t have to eat the crappy food there. This is all you have to know about the place and I would recommend to NOT go there.

Beautiful location regardless of whether you are on a hiking tour or here to sigh. There is no through traffic here in the evenings so it is very quiet here. The staff is friendly and I could even book packed lunches so that I didn't have to look for places to eat.
