I was there on the occasion of the European football championship, Romania's match with Belgium! I can say that it is a perfect place for a short stay, the owner is very friendly and provides adequate information about the city and the opportunity to visit some locations! Give it a try if you're on the run!

Reviewing this hostel despite having one night left, no need to wait. This has been the best hostel I've ever had the privilege to stay in. Service excellent, location a short straight line walk to city centre and surrounded by everything you'll need. Low fuss hostel with a really chill out feel. My only low point is I don't get to stay longer, have really enjoyed this place. 6 out of 5 stars for service.

It is easy to reach by public transport from Cologne HBF. It makes you happy as long as the expectations are not too high. I stayed in a room for 4 people and one person snored without stopping until the morning.

The most cleanest hostel I’ve ever experienced in Europe. I even can sleep in the bathroom that kind of clean!
Just follow the rules (reception open time, €10 deposit of the key) and all perfect !

My girlfriend and I recently had the opportunity to stay at Hostel 404, and unfortunately, we must express our disappointment with the overall experience.From the moment we arrived, it was evident that the owner's approach to hospitality was quite robotic. There was a distinct lack of empathy and flexibility in their demeanor, leaving me feeling like we were dealing with a rule-following automaton rather than a host. It became apparent that their focus was solely on enforcing policies rather than providing a welcoming and accommodating environment for guests.Throughout our stay, interactions with the owner were marked by a notable absence of understanding and compassion. Any requests or inquiries were met with a rigid adherence to the rules, without any attempt to find solutions or provide alternatives. It felt as though we were being treated more like employees than paying guests.In a hostel setting, one would expect the owner to be approachable, open to suggestions, and willing to go the extra mile to ensure guests have a positive experience. Unfortunately, this was not the case at Hostel 404. The lack of warmth and genuine concern for guests' comfort and satisfaction left a lasting impression, and not in a favorable way.While the facilities and location of the hostel may have their merits, the service provided by the owner ultimately overshadowed any positive aspects. It is my hope that the management takes these comments to heart and considers reevaluating their approach to guest relations.In conclusion, our stay at Hostel 404 was marred by a distinct lack of hospitality, empathy, and flexibility on the part of the owner. We sincerely hope that future guests have a more positive experience, and that the management takes steps to improve the overall service quality.

I stayed there one night.Since I arrived at the check-in times, there were no problems. Everything was shown and explained to me and I booked a double room. The room was at the top right next to the bathroom.Everything was completely OK.

More than enough for a short trip. If you're traveling by car, don't forget to book a parking space nearby in advance.The owner himself was very friendly and also gave us good tips. Very customer friendly.

How convenient it is to respond to messages by this means, I am not a guest, I paid for a service and I did not receive any response from you until now. It says that work starts at 9am, we showed up at 9am and at 8am my reservation was canceled. Now what is your excuse for not opening the door or answering a call? DON'T LIE, THIS IS NOT A HOSTEL, it's a hostel for pensioners who rob people.

horrible service, it's a trap. If your plane or bus is delayed, DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR. They can ring the doorbell, call, write and no one will answer. THIS PLACE IS A SCAM

Terrible service, it doesn't look like a hostel but rather a family home with strict schedule rules and no flexibility or empathy. We had a problem with transportation and we arrived 2 hours after check-in and they never opened the door for us, nor did they answer the phone or the chat on the app through which we had booked. After spending 1 hour outside in the rain, ringing, knocking, trying to communicate, we had to return to the airport to spend the night.Since breakfast was included, we decided to come back at 7 am to see. the possibility of having breakfast, taking a bath and leaving, at least so as not to completely lose the benefits of the reservation and again we did not receive any response, they did not answer the phone or open the door for us. At 8 am we received a reservation cancellation message saying no. We had shown up at the hostel. Which was completely FALSE. We showed up twice at different times.It seems more like a fraud, since it seems like a big business to set completely strict check-in times because there is a high probability that there will be problems in transportation or anything else that normally happens to a traveler, they cannot arrive at that time and the hotel then report that the traveler never showed up and collect all the money.The minimum is an answer, the minimum is to give an explanation, the minimum is to put yourself in the travelers' pants and understand that schedules cannot always be met and that there may be circumstances that warrant having a more flexible check-in service.I would never recommend it.

Far from the city center, if you have a late flight, you won’t be able to get into the hostel, as it closes at 10 at night. The furniture is old and everything is old, the area is dull

Double room including breakfast: €45, I think that's reasonable. The room next to the bathroom on the 2nd floor is cozy and clean, without a TV. Bathroom is clean. Breakfast (cereal, milk, jam, honey, tea, coffee, toast) in a small communal kitchen. Lounge with living room flair. Charming. Good connections with public transport.
