We stayed at the castle for one night for our 20th wedding anniversary. And I have to say, our expectations were far exceeded. It was a wonderful stay, everything there was lovingly laid out and the rooms were designed worthy of a castle. The breakfast in the morning was also very stylish and sufficient. Since we were there with our dog, there was a cozy dog bed, a blanket, a bowl and treats in the room. The castle is run very personally by Alex and we felt very comfortable there. The fantastic romantic view makes the whole thing perfect. We would love to come back.

Great ambience, mix of Middle Ages and comfort. As guests, we were grateful that the castle is not open to the public. Lots of peace and privacy as there are only 5 rooms. Very nice view from the room of the Rhine and Pfalzgrafenstein Castle.

A dream, fairytale castle with nice hosts…Breakfast in what feels like a throne room with classical sounds in top regional quality. Only 5 rooms leave space for individuality... Everything was there for our dog too... Terrace, wine, 100% view of the Rhine, pure relaxation... only the castle spirit was missing...

We were able to experience a fairytale weekend at Gutenfels Castle. The complex is fantastically beautiful with the large gardens where there is something to discover everywhere. The castle itself takes you right back to old times, everything here is so authentic and extremely well maintained and lovingly restored. The welcome was very warm with a tour of the premises. We felt very comfortable in our Wachenheim room, especially the mattresses were excellent and allowed us to sleep well. Especially since there was absolute calm. Our highlights were breakfast in the magnificent knight's hall, where you didn't want to get up, and the evenings in the cozy library, where you could help yourself to drinks and sweets. When the weather was bright, the sun terrace was also a wonderful place to stay.Since there are only 5 rooms, a very friendly relationship with the other guests quickly developed, so that there was an almost family atmosphere. We are absolutely thrilled and the next stay has already been booked.By the way, it was our 5th stay at a castle, but none can compete with Gutenfels Castle. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended.Thank you for the incredibly nice hospitality!

The place that makes hearts fly and melt😍🥰First of all, I unfortunately have to realize that there aren't as many stars as I would actually like to give or have to give. And I only mention the historical facts about this wonderfully beautiful castle at the end, which I never do otherwise. That alone should show how excited we were about our stay at Gutenfels Castle, which, according to a friend who I told about it and sent pictures, should actually be called Schönburg. But firstly, it already exists, and secondly, the name Gutenfels fits even better, because only good things have happened to us here.It started with the extremely warm and personal welcome from the absolutely likeable hotel manager Alex Gessner - yes, I'm deliberately using the maximum number of adjectives here😃 and even that isn't enough to reflect how much fun and joy the conversations with him brought us have. And the other guests - there are only five guest rooms in this castle - obviously felt the same way as we did.I daresay everyone was equally enchanted. But that's no wonder with this castle, which you can freely explore to your heart's content. You can discover so many hidden romantic and quiet places here, where you can just unwind and you have the feeling of experiencing something new with every new place you discover. The best thing of all was experiencing the sunset on a large tree swing with a bottle of exclusive castle wine - fantastic.I didn't miss a restaurant up here.On the contrary, the resulting hustle and bustle would have destroyed the romance of this place - especially since you can provide yourself with little things in the evening using an issue list. The sumptuous breakfast in the knight's hall, on the other hand, was great and again very personal - there was even sparkling wine on request. In all the amazement I almost forgot to mention the rooms, which were authentically furnished in the castle style and were very comfortable -Coffee machine, kettle, everything available and two carafes of water from the slate mine spring belonging to the castle, which simply tasted fantastically good. And if you haven't stopped reading yet, you'll now get a few historical facts about this Staufenburg castle, which was built around 1220 and is rarely well preserved. Just a reminder:The extinct Hohenstaufen family was the emperor at that time and so the construction of this castle was commissioned by the Holy Roman Empire of German Nations. Kaub Castle, together with the town of Kaub, was later handed over to the Count Palatine as a fief. After several unsuccessful sieges by Hessian troops in 1504, Elector Ludwig the Peaceful of the Palatinate gave it the name Gutenfels, which it has retained to this day.And she really deserves the name.

Burg Gutenfels is the perfect getaway for any type of trip. I went with a friend to celebrate her birthday and we couldn't stop looking at every detail of the castle and grounds. The gardens (I think there's 6?!) were breathtaking. We both cried and hugged thinking how is this real life??!! Please come here, you deserve it. From the medieval dining hall where you will be spoiled for breakfast to the many areas to sit with a glass of wine and view the sunset on the river, you will be happy every moment you're here. We are going to make this a tradition every year but I don't think I can wait that long to return!
