The food isn't bad at all. But my wife had a rump steak which was partly tough. Service was ok but not courteous. There was no light turned on in the dark corner where we were sitting. When you go out to eat there, you shouldn't forget that it's a hotel where parties sometimes take place. All in all the visit was ok. I cannot rate the hotel.

Great location if you are attending event in the cave of Balve and also right opposite a train station. Our room was renovated, big double bed, big shower. We had a very good sleep. Breakfast was simple but enough for our needs. Staff was very friendly.

My partner and I ate at this restaurant today. We ordered a Balkan platter for 2 people with different types of meat. The food came to the table quickly. I have to say that the food was really tasty. The meat was cooked just right and was so tasty and juicy. The service is very attentive and really polite and nice. I don't understand the bad reviews here. We really can't complain. And I think if something didn't taste good then you can talk to the service. 5 stars for each category. Always my pleasure. Keep on fighting. And to the readers here: Please go and try it for yourself to form your own opinion.

We were there on May 23, 24 in the evening with 11 people for dinner (birthday). We were the only ones in the restaurant. We ordered schnitzel (roast loin) and grilled plates. The meat from the grill plate was so tough that we left almost all of it on. The schnitzels were terrible and all we can say about the service is that we hardly dared to tear the two of them away from their cell phones. When the waitress brought the food and someone asked what it was because we had different grilled plates, the waitress replied that we should know what we had ordered. I don't even want to talk about the outside area. That was the first and last time we were there. We would have eaten better and been well served at any chip shop. You simply can't recommend a place like this.

I would love to give a good review...Unfortunately, I am massively disappointed and cannot recommend it. The food was overall disappointing. The chanterelles I ordered were noticeably oversalted and the meat that was served was raw and not tasty. It was also not asked in advance how the expensive piece of meat could/should be prepared…My partner's salad was a complete disgrace and reminded me of a whole onion instead of the multi-faceted farmer's salad that I had ordered. Long live the onion...Apart from the taste issues, the price/performance ratio was not adequate. The prices were exorbitantly high for the quality of the food we received.Overall, my visit to “Haus Padberg” and “Haus Schandberg” was a disappointing experience.I won't be coming back and unfortunately I can't recommend it.

The Hotel Haus Padberg impresses with its cozy and timeless atmosphere. Although it is not modern, it still exudes a special charm. The cleanliness of the hotel is exemplary, which makes the stay extremely pleasant...The food in the hotel is simply excellent. The dishes are freshly prepared, be it the crisp salads, the tender meat or the delicious potatoes. Every bite was a pleasure for the senses...Particularly worth mentioning is the family atmosphere created by the staff. You immediately feel welcome and in good hands. The personal service contributes significantly to making your stay at the Hotel Haus Padberg an unforgettable experience.

We were there for dinner. My husband ordered spare ribs and a farmer's salad, which was served beforehand and not with the ribs. The ribs were seasoned sparingly, if at all, and looked a bit lost on the large plate. I had a baked schnitzel with pineapple and peaches, 3 small röstis and a side salad. The leaf lettuce was iceberg lettuce and inedible. Apparently it had been frostbitten, was ice cold and had lost its crisp structure. I sorted that out. The plate on which the rest of my food was served came to the table piping hot, but the fruit on the schnitzel was only lukewarm. The peaches turned out to be apricots. The dining area itself was not well lit. Only the few wall lights were switched on. If the ceiling lights that hang above the tables had been on, you would have been able to see your food better. But maybe that's a tactic so that you don't see everything. The bar, however, where there were obviously drunk people, was well lit. We were terribly disappointed as the house made a decent impression from the outside. Ultimately, I can only say that every restaurant is only as good as the people who want to serve their guests there. It probably also depends on who is cooking. Because three days before it was better: the table lights were on and the food was tastier overall. In my opinion there is a lack of passion and respect for the house, the (food) resources used and the guests. Kind of sad...
