We found our way to Möllecken's for the first time as part of the Kochquintett Niederrhein and had a great evening. A cheerful and casual service paired with great food and a good selection of wine left nothing to be desired. We would love to come back. 😊

I only rate the restaurant. The food was very good and the service was very friendly and helpful. A 3 course menu for under 50 euros is fair. The guest room is very nicely decorated. The tables are nice and big for 2 people. But a bit tight for 4 people.

“Oh, someone was hungry.” were my wife’s words as the waitress cleared the next table. The only thing left on the plate was the bare bone of a goose. So my conclusion that it must be delicious was only logical. As a starter I treated myself to the flambéed goat cheese. Let's start in order. The service; Attentive but not intrusive. The waitresses keep a close eye on their guests. The food; As I said at the beginning, very tasty. We actually went here a second time just to eat goose. I don't think I've ever eaten a goose as tender as this. In fact, you don't need to write about the bird. There was also a brown sauce, cranberries (very fruity), roasted almond slivers and of course a dumpling and the baked apple. The red cabbage is homemade and had little acidity, but still a bit of bite (which I personally like). The flambéed goat cheese lay on a bed of lettuce and a fruity sauce. Which I think is a nice contrast. The cheese (a good portion) was topped with caramelized nuts drizzled with honey. I also thought everything was well balanced in terms of taste. Of course, you can always find discrepancies if you look deep enough, but that's not what my reviews are about. I try to find restaurants in Duisburg and the surrounding area that I can recommend to good hearts. And I can do that here. Cooking is a craft and it doesn't stop in the kitchen. The old customs house is a restaurant with a really good kitchen, chef, service, ambience, etc. Oh, the price. I paid €14 for flambéed goat cheese and €27.50 for the goose. The price-performance ratio is, in my opinion, very good. I can recommend the old customs house with a clear conscience.

The food was extremely good. I had goose leg, without complaining I was given another side dish (oven vegetables) instead of red cabbage.
