We stayed there overnight during our hike on the Rothaarsteig and were super satisfied. Nice, modern, clean rooms. Very friendly, helpful service. Great breakfast and great cake. Absolute recommendation.

We stayed here for one night on our hike on the Rothaarsteig. The reception was very friendly and, even though it wasn't open yet, coffee and sweets were freshly prepared for us. Dinner and breakfast made from regional products are a real pleasure, freshly prepared.- Room clean- Service to dry your shoes and rain cape- Staff very friendlyWe felt very welcome here and would like to say thank you again.

Small, lovingly run hotel directly on the Rothaarsteig. Spacious room, good bed. Very fine evening menu, the food was really excellent. Sustainability is very important to the host, as is quality. The breakfast was also very good, as a hiker on the Rothaarsteig a wonderful experience to recharge your reserves!

Last weekend we were guests at the Hahnenquelle motorhome parking space with our campervan.We arrived quite late on Friday, were greeted warmly and were even lucky enough to be the only guests on the RV parking space. The place is located directly at the restaurant and offers a clean toilet with a sink, electricity and water that is accessible 24 hours a day. And all of this for just 12 euros. There is even a bread roll service with really delicious rolls.During the day there is a lot going on on the adjacent street, but from the early evening and overnight it becomes wonderfully quiet.The location directly on the Rothaarsteig allows for great hikes and you will also be in good hands here by bike.We can also highly recommend eating at Hahnenquelle. We ate from the "snack" menu on the terrace, which was busy during the day. The prices were more than fair, but above all the food was incredibly tasty and fresh and anything but run-of-the-mill.In the evening there is a menu with "real" dishes from 6 p.m. It is often difficult for vegetarians and vegans (the vegan sandwich is a treat!) to find the right one. There was a lot to choose from here, which was also excellently labeled as vegan/vegetarian.The entire staff is very welcoming and helpful. You could really tell that everyone cared about ensuring the guests had a good time.We absolutely loved it here and will definitely come back next year.

I like to stop here on my motorcycle and take a break. Nice staff and cheap prices! Here you pay €4 for a non-alcoholic wheat and €3.50 for a portion of fries. Where else can you find something like that?

Good, clean room right on the Rothaarsteig. Very friendly and patient service, delicious food and a rich and lovingly selected and prepared breakfast. We'd love to come back!

We felt very welcome at Zur Hahnenquelle. The owners are very hospitable and warm. The room (currently one of two, the others are being renovated) is spacious and comfortable, with a good bed and a sitting area with a TV, which is a nice plus. The food is worth a special mention. The menu is original; The dishes are freshly prepared and are of very high quality. The breakfast is also super good. Thank you very much, we will definitely come back!

We came with the motorhome and, after a great e-bike tour on the Rothaarsteig, had a great evening with really good food and great conversations.Reservation for the motorhome was easy and uncomplicated.It's definitely not the last time we've been here and we'd love to come back.Ps: Pitches including toilet and electricity for €12.00.Absolute thumbs up from us

We planned a rest here with a motorcycle group and asked for a reservation in the restaurant in advance. A reservation couldn't be made, but we would definitely be served when we arrived, there would always be enough seats.Now it wasn't our first tour with around 20 people and it happened as it had to.There were only a few tables available outside in the sun and there weren't enough seats inside for the whole group.So the cozy lunch break was canceled in the best weather.It's a shame, but not recommended for groups.

I had already called in July and wanted to make a reservation here as a break meeting for a larger group (approx. 30 motorcyclists) on August 24th, 2024. Unfortunately a reservation was not possible. However, I was assured that this wouldn't be a problem since there would be more than 100 seats INSIDE and outside.So we got there on Saturday and there weren't enough seats left outside.The fact that there was only self-service on the terrace wasn't a problem for us since we don't have foot problems.Since everything inside was free - reservation signs were upside down on the tables - I POLITELY asked if we could sit down here. This was denied, citing the lack of staff. Even my objection that we would still get our own food and drink didn't change anything.The fact that this didn't trigger any storms of enthusiasm in me is probably understandable given the promise made on the phone. However, I don't understand what my leaving the restaurant has to do with being "displeased" and "wanting to get my way."The part of us who couldn't get a seat outside ended up going to the Rhein-Weser Tower. After we were later able to exchange our "culinary experiences" in the group regarding the price-performance ratio, I have to say: It was a good decision to go to the tower :-)Next time we have a meeting, we'd rather drive straight up for a break!!!

No seats reserved despite pre-registration. When some of us tried to sit down in the restaurant, they were told to go back out. Due to a lack of staff, there would be nothing inside. On the terrace it was only self-service.

The extremely friendly and hard-working owner not only ensures a pleasant stay, but also gives valuable insider tips for your next break along the way. We weren't in the hotel, we took a lunch break while riding our motorcycles.Service top!Kitchen great!Prices top!Particularly worth mentioning...the toilets are extremely clean. You could eat off the floor...tipitopi.Always happy to come back

Stopped here today with a motorcycle group (25) participants.Despite making a reservation and calling in advance, there wasn't enough room for us (even though everything inside was empty). Parts of the group were rudely rejected.I only go there with the sandwich in my luggage.
