I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Gasthof Sommerau. For a long time I will remember the morning swim in the fresh water of the natural swimming pond and the view of the grass swaying in the wind. And the cherry on top was the delicious cuisine. Fresh, delicious, colorful and imaginative. A feast for the palate and a feast for the eyes. We will come back.

Actually, you shouldn't recommend this inn because it would have to remain an insider tip. Starting with the beautiful, quiet location, this hotel is a place that lets the soul breathe a sigh of relief and appeals to all the senses in the most beautiful and beneficial way. It is absolutely unusual to realize that there is still life without the Internet, without cell phone reception and without television. Unbelievable, but not only does it work, it also does incredibly well. The tranquility of architectural and traditional construction, coupled with the trend-setting style of the 90s, with regard to the use of organic and sustainable construction methods, is nestled in an untouched Black Forest valley which is literally behind the 7 mountains near the 7 dwarves. The culinary experiences are not at all dwarfish and are rightly honored with various awards. All of this combined with friendly service and a casual yet stylish ambience. The wellness area, which was also very sensitively added later, only offers a Finnish sauna, but no overcrowded temple houses. The beautifully designed swimming area on the outside meets the requirements of a plunge pool in a wonderful way. Definitely recommended and just as reasonably priced. It was a very nice experience.

The pleasant, relaxed atmosphere is due to the somewhat remote location - but the peace and quiet you get is unique. The welcome was warm and cordial - we were known... the greeting from the kitchen (roast beef) was very tasty, as a starter the packed warm feta with pears and beans was a poem, as the main course the lamb was perfectly pink and the jus was just great I peeled the stuffed peppers and made the gnocchi myself. For dessert, the home-made quark ice cream was beautifully presented and with a creamy consistency that melted in the mouth and on the palate as an unforgettable experience... Amazing location right in the middle of a lovely glade. Cozy and private. Very friendly hosts. Authentic. Amazing restaurant. No WiFi and mobile network - a perfect rehab from busy everyday life. Good starting point for hikes and bike tours.

We were there for lunch. Nice, very appropriate atmosphere. The drinks were also good, as were the individual courses. Beautiful to look at and very tasty. Unfortunately the ribbon noodles were meaningless. Hardly a trace of salt and tossing them in a little butter would have been good for them, perhaps with a hint of nutmeg. Otherwise everything was suitable and we liked it very much. We didn't stay there overnight.
