Absolutely cutest vacation apartment! It was clean, functional and comfortable. As a tall woman (192cm) there were some places I had to mind my head because of the low ceilings, but the decor (especially the cute corner in the kitchen from where you can see the amazing flowering garden) and the view over the hills with cows made staying here very worth it.The cows are the only sound heard when you're in the apartment, and the darkness and silence were a thing to get used to. But we loved to be away from our busy lives. As Hornihäusle is the last house of the village, you can walk straight up to the hiking trail Heilklimasteige, or go down to the town to get your breakfast breads. We thought we'd get breakfast (or rather, just the breads) when we booked, but we were mistaken. However, since the walk to the village is very pretty and rather quick (13 minutes to reach the bakery), it's not a big deal. The lady who runs it is charming, and funny. We don't speak German that well, but she was patient and we understood each other fine each time we spoke. Some reviews here called her inspiring - I think I must agree.I'm not one to repeat vacations by going to the same place, but if I would I'd stay in this place again!

Such a lovely place to stay! The hostess has wit, character and energy and keeps the house and guest rooms in tip-top shape! Our room was bright and well maintained. The breakfast is “basic” but completely sufficient. It is served in a room that has the cozy charm of grandmother's living room :)We were here with the dog and the walks start right outside the front door.A lovely place for a weekend getaway!

We booked a private apartment for 4 people but what they don't tell you is that this "apartment" is inside an older woman's house, meaning you live with her. However, that wasn't so bad, the worst thing was the amount of dirt there was throughout the apartment. Everything was full of giant cobwebs that were not from one day or two. The shower base had mold all over the joints, it was disgusting. Clarify that it is not that there was a lack of silicone in the joints, it is that there was mold. But, without a doubt, the most horrible thing of all was the kitchen. There were no utensils (spoons, forks, etc.), the oven was full of dirt, the stove buttons were full of grease from centuries ago, the pans were unwashed and stored as if they were clean. Furthermore, the kitchen did not have an extractor fan. We cooked 1 piece of chicken breast only once and the fire alarm went off because there was no extractor. On the other hand, the owner of the house asked us for all the money in cash when the page where we booked did not say anything about not being able to pay by card. After seeing the state of the apartment, we went to talk to the lady. Not only did she deny that the house was dirty, even telling her exactly what we were complaining about, but she said, verbatim, that she "wouldn't return the cash."I attach photographs of everything we found so that all of you who read this can see that it is completely true.

They deceived us with the price upon check-in. There is dirt and dust everywhere. Not recommended for vegetarians, breakfast for swallowers. Old and musty.

The location is great, it is in fact the last house of the village, so you either walk up into the forest or down into civilization. The hostess is one of the most inspiring women I ever met. Everything was fine, shower, parking, breakfast except the WiFi. But last night we passed here we found that we only had to walk 100 meters to the Kurpark with plenty of nice outdoor seats to have the perfect free connection provided by the city of Schonwald which might be handy to know first evening.
