This hostel is run by two friendly older ladies, the rooms are large and have an interesting GDR flair. The stay is unbeatably cheap and the hostel is not too crowded. They have a small kitchen for preparing food. It's super quiet, so you can go to bed early without being disturbed. The location is 10 minutes from the train station. What struck me particularly positively were the beds, which didn't squeak, the feather-light but warm duvets and the floral bed linen. There is free WiFi. I felt very comfortable there and the quietness of the city and the hostel meant I was able to sleep well and relax. If you want to stay cheaply, it is really recommended!I've read that some people here have experienced a smell. It probably depends a lot. My room never smelled, I've been in several rooms. (1st floor) It smelled sometimes in the kitchen, but it wasn't that bad. Everything is a bit older there. I have also stayed in many hostels and actually experienced exactly the same standards of cleanliness for twice the price. It's a bit cleaner than in some other hostels, where, for example, the hallways stink a lot. The air is very fresh here. You can also tell that people are really trying here. Whenever paper towels run out, they are replaced immediately. If you want something, you will be helped very nicely. It's really nice and friendly here. Some rooms still have the old GDR keys and they look really cool! I will definitely come back. Oh yes, the price! Here you could get a room for just me for 25 euros, and if you stay for several nights it gets even cheaper! And that in 2023! This doesn't exist anywhere else.

This one star is only there so that I can give a review!I can't understand how something like this can even be offered. Just looking at it from the outside made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. And things didn't get any better inside. It stinks, moldy walls, dirty bed linen, curtains that probably haven't been washed in decades. The shared bathrooms are just as disgusting. We truly fled. How anyone can spend the night there is a mystery to me. I've never seen anything like this in my life. And I can only recommend that everyone never take a room there!

Beds good, hostel just like that, warm water in communal showers in homeopathic doses, suitable for hallway parties, nice hostel staff (who certainly have to put up with a lot)

So first I can validate that with the smell in the house. It's no problem in the room, just open the window and it smells wonderful. Now you have to remember that the overnight stay only costs €20!!Guys, I'm currently touring Germany and have slept in worse rooms for twice the price! So my conclusion: Yes, it stinks and the kitchen isn't very clean either. But if you're not a sugar person, want to do a bit of cleaning and aren't looking for a luxury holiday overall, this place is great value for money! I mean, for 20€ a kitchen was included… and there was an “Edeka” next door, so I was happy with my pasta. And ps., the WiFi works pretty well in the breakfast room.

This place gives definetely value for your money. Stylistically it offers a interesting view back to the East-German times. I think that the hostal used to be a police or train driver school and dormitory in old days, so the rooms are large and light.

Definitely not recommended. Run by two older women who are clearly overwhelmed. They are friendly, but that doesn't justify the condition of the hostel. The furnishings are very old-fashioned and the rooms definitely do not meet the hygiene standards. Our bed linen was dirty, the surfaces hadn't been wiped down and our trash can hadn't been emptied. The shared bathrooms weren't clean either and you can't even think about taking a shower. I definitely wouldn't go there again.

Totally outdated. When you are in the shower, you cannot hang the shower head and hardly any water comes out, it is over and done with
