Traditional Black Forest inn with plenty of space and good cuisine. You don't get the good transport connections in the restaurant ;) it was a very nice evening there with good food.

We have eaten in the cold hostel several times and it has always been excellent. The Winterhalter family is very warm-hearted and you immediately feel very comfortable. The service is always top and the food always tastes very good and is always of very good quality. Regional and fresh products are used. We will definitely come back and look forward to our next visit.

I was here with friends after Westweg stage #8. Very nice welcome and great service. Newly renovated room, the so-called "dance hall" on the third floor, very attractive, spacious, chic bathroom. In addition, very tasty food (in my case Kässpätzle + salad) and great breakfast, all at very reasonable prices. Clear recommendation!

We were there for dinnerYou should know that it closes at around 7.30 p.m./8 p.m. (at least in October)Very quiet atmosphere, yet child-friendly and very familiar.The food was very tasty (schnitzel with fries, veal cordon bleu fried potatoes, bratwurst with onions...)

The cold hostel is the pure Black Forest experience. Super nice staff and incredibly delicious food. Here you can treat yourself to the Black Forest cake! :-)

Stopped here for dinner on the way today. Even with a dog, we were served friendly and the food (steak and roulade) was very tasty. We enjoyed our little break in the cozy guest room and would love to come back.

We hiked some stages of the Westweg in autumn 2024 and stayed in the Kalte Hostel for one night. Nice and clean rooms, very nice hosts and good food.

We stayed here as part of our Westweg hike and were completely satisfied. The cold hostel is right at the end of the stage. We had a spacious double room with a nice bathroom - everything was perfect. Nice beer garden available in summer. The dinner was excellent and the breakfast buffet left nothing to be desired. Very nice hosts - absolutely recommended.

The room with a double bed was very tidy and nicely furnished. There were enough of the shared bathrooms and toilets, but the furnishings were a bit older and the ventilation wasn't quite as efficient.However, the food in the restaurant and the breakfast are excellent and the service staff is very friendly.

Too bad we can't give a star.I highly recommend the owner or whoever manages the place to take a good education course.We had booked a night in this place since it is unfortunately located for those walking on the Westweg at the end of the stage and arriving before the check in time we called as suggested by a sign on the stairs. They replied telling us the room number but the room was closed so we called him back and his rudeness exceeded all limits. The person who answered started shouting the room number like a madman, even in Italian, as if we were stupid and I answered him in German to make him understand that we weren't such idiots and then he hung up on me and continued to shout. like crazy!!! We waited about an hour but he never called us back. Obviously we went somewhere else.

We only went there to eat and we weren't disappointed. Very delicious, the service very friendly and the location almost iconic. Absolutely recommended and will definitely be a stop on my upcoming Westweg tour. 👍🏾

We drove an extra 1.5 hours here today so that we could enjoy delicious German food. Was excellent again. Our meal this time was onion roast, pasta, garlic soup, venison schnitzel and veal tongue. Then plum ragout with ice cream and cream. Everything great!!!! The children were kept busy in the large playground and you could spend 3 hours here in peace. The waitresses are super friendly. Come again. Thank you for everything.

The inn is an original, real inn as I would expect in the Black Forest. Family-run, no frills with an eye on what's important, clean, tidy and organized.Regional cuisine is highly recommended, very tasty and original, the breakfast with changing cold cuts, fruit and vegetables, very good. The crowning glory was the home-baked cuisine, I recommend the mirabelle plum cake. Really great, I will think of you on my next trips. Also great for biker and hiker families, the playground is right there!!
