We spent the Whitsun weekend with 8 adults and 6 children in Haus Benneckenstein.First of all, the positive thing is that it offers the opportunity to get together with lots of people and its facilities were functional. Grill, well-equipped apartments, board games, table tennis table + accessories and table football with various attachments offer good employment opportunities even in bad weather. However, the air, especially in the apartment on the first floor, is generally unpleasant and the bathrooms smell of damp. It wouldn't have worked for us without constant ventilation. The floor is very noisy, the wallpaper was stuck over old wallpaper and is coming off, and all in all we wouldn't book it again.

We lived in the house with 14 people over New Year's Eve 2023/2024.The equipment is simple but OK. The house was very clean and the kitchens were well stocked. The lounge was sufficient for 8 adults and 6 children. With more people it would be very crowded. The smell of the holiday apartment on the first floor was very unpleasant. A sweet, stale smell that hasn't gone away even after 3 days of constant ventilation unfortunately clouds the very positive impression of the house so far. All the laundry we took out of our bags had to be washed because they had a bad smell. The apartments on the ground floor and second floor were not affected. The outdated water heaters/heating systems also rumble quite violently, which massively disrupts sleep.

This was our third time here and there will be a next time. We had a really nice vacation. Every excursion is a highlight. The holiday apartments are very clean and comfortably furnished. The town of Benneckenstein is very quiet, meaning peace and relaxation. And yet very centrally located for excursions. Everything can be reached within half an hour to an hour. We're looking forward to next time. We wish you all the best and remain with kind regards. See you next time. Regina and Lutz Doll

We rented the entire house for a weekend, from Friday to Sunday. Our travel group consists of 4 families. 2 families shared the 3rd floor. My family lived on the 1st floor (ground floor). The house is located directly on the main street of the small town. But the road is not busy. You hardly hear any noise from outside. We were there in winter and had the windows mostly closed. I can't judge what it's like with the windows open. There is no parking in front of the door. There is no parking there because there is a bus stop right in front of the door. You can park in the inner courtyard. The gate entrance is very narrow. I recommend experienced drivers with large cars. The garages cannot be used by vans due to their height; “normal height” cars fit in well. However, the van can be parked in the courtyard. We were able to park 3 vans there easily. The house is an old half-timbered house. You can't see it from the outside, it's covered up. Inside you notice this very quickly. All doors are different heights. The doors are very low, especially on the 3rd floor. Once you've hit your head twice, you've learned. In terms of furnishings, everything you need is there. However, comfortable looks different. The bathroom on the ground floor is very narrow. You can wash your hands there while sitting on the toilet. The bathroom on the 2nd floor can only be reached via the shared hallway. At the kitchen table there are 6 chairs around a small table. If each of the 6 people has a plate in front of them, the table is full. There is enough space in the living room and bedroom. The “children’s room” is a narrow, narrow tube.I found the mattresses in the bedroom to be too soft. You sink into it, but that's a matter of taste. I find it annoying that you can hear the heat in the kitchen in the bedroom. Every few minutes there is a “click” followed by “whoosh” – whenever the heater ignites.WiFi is available throughout the house. I was able to measure a speed of just over 10 MBit/s. The router is on the ground floor, and repeaters are plugged into a socket on the floors above. Our WiFi was often overloaded. It probably couldn't cope with the amount of devices. You often had to re-register. There is hardly any WiFi available in the common room.Lamps with motion detectors are installed in the common hallways and in the gate entrance. For my understanding, the time until it switches off again is set far too short. It's easy to find yourself sitting on the dark stairs while taking off your shoes. The ground floor apartment has its own small hallway. The cloakroom is inconveniently placed there. When there are a lot of jackets hanging there in winter, there is little space left to get to the bathroom. But you should be happy about it. The apartment on the 2nd floor has the cloakroom in the common hallway. There is only a dishwasher in the apartment on the 2nd floor. Probably because that's where the common room is.There are very few sockets. It is advisable to take distribution boxes with you.You could receive all general free channels on the television. There are many games (card games, board games, etc.) available in each apartment and in the common room. The price-performance ratio is very good.
