The location is away from outside traffic and or street lights etc. We had a perfect clear sky that enabled us to see the stars as clear as they could be (We actually witnessed two shooting stars!).Julia and I stayed in mid November and immediately I noticed it was cosy upon entering the castle. The small restaurant served up some delicious food and the service was well matched. Our room was very comfortable and our windows looked out on the moat that surrounds the castle. Finally, we took a walk around the grounds and that in itself was a wonderful experience. One last thing! We paid around 40% of what we had paid the night before in a corporate hotel in Berlin..

Top weekend with a Michelin deserving chef. Every dish was well thought through and presented with flair.Scrambled eggs were not watery or dry. Nice smooth and fluffy. Medium to rare beef was indeed medium to rare. Delicate use of herbs made this a cullinary experience definitely to be repeated.Excellent wine cellar.Afternoon coffee/tea with cake was superfluous. All in all a fantastic experience!

[Update Feb 2023: Instead of addressing the issues described here, the hotel seems to have hired a lawyer to try to get this and other negative reviews removed from Google claiming they are fake]If you’re reading this and didn’t book yet, I’ll save you the trouble: don’t book. Worst experience in a hotel I’ve had in my life. The worst: the receptionist and hotel director, Frau Scholz. She was not only unhelpful but completely indifferent to any issues the guests might have. Her response to anything would be to shrug her shoulders and insinuate that’s your problem. Can’t really understand how someone so rude can work in hospitality. The room: is poorly decorated and furnished, with extremely old mattresses. The bathroom is poorly ventilated. The spa: ridiculously small, not even worth mentioning. The restaurant: overpriced. I must say though that the waiters were very friendly.Oh, and to end our trip, surprise, you cannot pay with card. Only cash. Yes, in a hotel. All in all, would never, ever come back again or recommend it to anyone.

[Update July 2023: We never received a statement from the hotel, but the hotel attempted twice to have our reviews removed through Google, claiming “we were never there” or “blackmailed them into free nights” which is both not true. This review simply reflects our experience there and if they don't like it, perhaps they should work on their attitude rather than trying to remove bad reviews afterwards.] The hotel itself is in a beautiful location and the building nice enough, but the interior is a bit outdated and I personally don't like two separate mattresses in a double bed. I feel like the place hasn't really reached it's full potential and they could make so much more out of it. The 4 stars don't seem appropriate to me. But the real issue here is Frau Scholz, the hotel director. This is the single most rude person I ever encountered in hospitality. I understand someone can have a bad day, but we approached her twice and both encounters have left me speechless. I have never received that many shrugs and blank stares and she did not once manage to crack a smile. We seemed absolutely not welcome. Upon checkout, we wanted to pay for the dinner and all we got was "only cash" and a pointing at a A4 paper that mentions "disruptions" in the electronic payment but not once says they accept only cash. Of course, we didn't have any cash, because it is 2022 and we are not a 100 years old. She did not care to propose any solutions and just shrugged her shoulders. I asked for an invoice, wasn't possible. I asked for Paypal, apparently no internet. I still finally managed to pay through Paypal (with extra fees) and asked her to maybe update this info on their website or make this A4-paper a bit more clear and all we got was "I will forward your feedback", which sounded like "yeah whatever" and since she's the director, I guess she's not gonna forward anything. I have no idea why she works in this business. Anyway, good luck.

A beautifully renovated castle with charm and atmosphere hard to find in the surroundings of Dresden. The staff is qualified and helpful. Ala carte dinner was enjoyed in the yard, and it was very tasteful and well arranged. …

We spent a few days here. It was nice, but it lacks something. It was clean and quiet but it felt cold and institutional ... and TOO quiet. Maybe it's a much nicer spot in summer. The dining room was was nice but pricey. …
