We stayed at the property for one night. She was easy to find. Very difficult to reach by bike but we were able to push. The owner was very friendly and chatty. All the works of art on the wall and throughout the house were interesting. The rooms were very functional. Some of the wallpaper was missing, but I don't want to sleep against the wall. To combat the cold, a fire was made for us in an oven. The breakfast was also nice. We didn't use the cold shower room. In summer it's definitely something different. Okay for the price if you're alone in the room.

A very strange, individual accommodation in a very special place. The house is beautifully situated on a hillside, with a view of the Elbe. However, you shouldn't be sensitive.

A very lucky find after long hike in the rain, we could pitch up our tent on one of the terraces.Toilets and showers are inside this amazing building (once a hunting lodge, dancehall and bar) now an open atelier with paintings everywhere you look.Host is friendly and speaks enough languages that communication is no problem.Rooms still have that Eastern European vibe that adds to its charm. Yes it could be cleaner but if you’re hiking out in the woods, well we didn’t mind. Toilets and showers are clean with a very outdated charm of creative DIYIf you’re traveling alone it’s also a great place to meet and talk about art😊

Amazing for those seeking an artistic adventure. This hostel is an experience on its own. Entering the house filled with provocative and exquisite painting, one's senses is overwhelmed.This house feels out of the world with it's abandoned artists workshop vibe. Hygiene of the house is not good, especially the toilets, and people with dust and mold allergy should avoid.However, the gorgeous art pieces and unique soul of the house makes the overall experience a memorable one.Friendly and easy going host, great views from a high point, but tiring hike up long and steep slope.Not for someone with mobility issues or a need for physical comfort or cleanliness.

An extraordinary place with a wonderful host :) Christopher creates interesting works, is an inspiring interlocutor and prepares delicious breakfasts! A great place when hiking the Malerweg, with a beautiful view of the Elbe. Simple rooms, shared bathrooms, for undemanding tourists. There is also an option to stay overnight in a tent. You can talk in German and English.

The host here is Kristoferis, an artist, you would live among paintings, with wonderful views of Elbe. The hostel is an artist's workshop, so having an artistic attitude is necessary :)))

A great accommodation for individualists. The landlord is very nice and a good conversationalist. The rooms and accommodation are by no means standard, but they are just right for what you need for a long hike. Breakfast was served on the route where the view could roam over the valley. I was lucky enough to meet an ASB youth hiking group in the house who invited me to a fun board game around the campfire. In addition, art lovers will get their money's worth.

Christopher is a wonderful host, very friendly, caring, interested. His accommodation is...unusual, you're kind of sleeping in a work of art. The terrace is one of the most beautiful ones we were able to have breakfast on on Malerweg! Spending the night with a real painter at the beginning of the trail is the perfect start 😃🥾

An experience to never forget.Christopher is an incredible artist and you can admire (and buy) all his art in the house.Good hospitality and service.Christopher sent me an email of the day of arrival with the public transport tickets that we could use for busses, ferries and trains. Also the possibility to get the key out of the safe, just in case if we would arrive earlier and he would not be around yet.The accommodation is huge and characteristic. It’s not perfect and that’s why it is perfect! These are those moments on our trip (hiking Malerweg) that we will remember and tell others about.It’s an arthouse, with a very kind, sincerely interested host!!

The building is dilapidated. There is trash everywhere. It is very dirty including mold, especially in the kitchen. In my opinion you can't stay overnight here. We got the money back and looked for another room in another accommodation. At least the host was friendly.

Christoffer who owns the place is a genuine artist, everything you’d expect, and a really nice guy.The place is lovely situated.I’d say the downside is that it’s simple, perhaps lacking slightly in order with Christoffer’s art flooding the place. However if you want a unique and quirky experience, this is a natural choice.The place was a bit chilly at night in May, and I’m not sure of how much hot water is accessible. But for 25 euros per person in the financial crisis of 2023, I’d say a place like this with clean sheets and swept floors must be extremely difficult to come by.Once again, if you want a basic and very unique experience, this is your choice. Best of luck on your hiking! 💜

Reading the other reviews, I feel like we had a different place to stay.We stood in front of a locked door because the operator forgot about us. The phone number on the door led to a stranger in Königsstein who had nothing to do with the hostel.The kitchen couldn't be used because it was really dirty. We slept in whatever clothes we had since there was no way to heat. There was an oven in one room, but it was full of ash and apparently our predecessors couldn't get it to work because the room smelled badly of a cold oven.There are two stars because the host was so nice and let us in anyway. By 7 p.m. there were no more alternatives in the place.

I spent the first night of my hike on the Malerweg in the Schützenhaus and was thrilled by this unconventional accommodation, a mixture of hostel and painter's studio in a wonderful location high above the Elbe. I felt very comfortable! Gladly again next time :)!

Christopher's accommodation is an old, charming house, which also serves as a studio and storage place for his artwork. We (M, 27 & W, 25) fell in love with the charm of his accommodation because, as an artist, he brings his very own style to the design of his place.If you want an experience that is far away from the standardized hotel industry, you should definitely book Christopher's accommodation!

We knew Christopher from the Blue Factory in Dresden's Neustadt and were not surprised to find him here. Since the Schützenhaus is so close to your home, it makes no sense to spend the night there. But the beer garden in the form of a terrace with a great view of the Elbe is always worth a trip. Even more often.

Christopher is a great host, he prepares breakfast personally. That makes up for the rest, after all it is very cheap and strategically well located.
