Definitely go out to eat here...call in advance to make a reservation...a menu with well-balanced ingredients...that was a pleasure...Christian's passion is palpable...so his cooking is not just craft...we'd be happy to come back

We were very lucky to get a table even without a reservation. The mix of rustic ambience and fantastic cuisine was inspiring. I've never had better food in the region - at least not in such a relaxed atmosphere.

First of all, just very briefly: “GREAT”.My girlfriend and I arrived at the restaurant a little famished after a bike ride on a Friday evening. (There wasn't a restaurant anywhere that was open). Since it was already 8:30 p.m., we had little hope of getting anything to eat, but we were warmly welcomed and able to eat. The service was great and we felt really comfortable. The food was absolutely great. We could hear the schnitzel being pounded, so it was freshly prepared. It has absolute restaurant flair, very nicely rustic furnishings and it was clean! Through our conversation with the waiter, he gave us a great tip for the next day and we started our hike at the restaurant towards Bastei. The reason for this was that the rock gate is behind the restaurant. A great starting point for a hike. We had dinner there again and decided on the sweet potato soup. I can tell you... Best soup ever! All in all, a really great restaurant with great service, very good food and a great starting point for a hike. We wish everyone only the best

For us, a place to arrive and feel good.Christian the operator rocks everything by himself and always with a smile on his face. The food is sensationally good - you can tell that he has worked in good places as a chef. He uses regional goods, the rest of us do too - the main thing is that it's good goods...where else can you find that? It's better to have parmesan aged for 24 months over the risotto than 12 months, which just doesn't taste as good...He also had his own wine bottled by a winemaker from Dresden, a cuvée to Christian's taste.Rooms are clean.From the inn you can walk straight to the Uttewalder Grund all the way to the Bastei...It was so beautiful and delicious, we'll definitely be back!The other hikers are also chilling out here and you start talking, which is definitely due to Christian's open nature, which is simply contagious.

Do you enjoy nature, hiking, mountain biking. Do you need a good kitchen to recharge your batteries?Then you are in good hands with Christian. Clean accommodation, very good cuisine and a cheerful host! What more do you want!The location, 50m to the hiking trail and you are in the Bastei Mountains!

No hospitality. A thirsty hiking group of 25 men was unfortunately denied entry 50 minutes before regular opening time. So we had to make another restaurant happy. We're still sitting there and making hefty sales. Bottom up!

If you like hiking and want to eat delicious food in the evening, the Gasthof / Pension Uttewalde is the right place.The painter's path runs behind the house, you are immediately in the forest.The owner Christian is a great chef. The menu is small, the food is freshly cooked, and even lovers of meat-free food will find something to like.The breakfast is also commendable.Fresh fruits, a variety of cheeses, yoghurt, light and dark rolls,There are various egg dishes.Plus hiking tips and a kind word... simply perfect!Thank you and see you next time.Your Eichardts

A very nice inn, the food was fantastic, the landlord was very friendly and reliable. There are wonderful hiking routes in Saxon Switzerland.The inn is a nice starting point for our excursions into the mountains.

The owner speaks both English and German, and is very kind and happy to give directions towards destinations of interest, of which there are many not too far away. The food is great, and the location is just as good. The hotel focuses on the basics and excels at them; comfy beds, nice views, good food, good service. The wifi is not the strongest, but it is enough to keep up with social media or brag about your travels online.

The inn is located directly on the Maler hiking trail and is perfect for trips to the Saxon Switzerland National Park. The Bastei and the Elbe are within walking distance and beautiful tours.The inn is ok for a few days, but you shouldn't expect too much.The rooms are really spartan. In the evenings and in bad weather there isn't really anything to see or do outside of the rooms.The inn is very far away from everything, you can't get far without a car. There is nothing in Uttewalde. And in the guesthouse there is neither cell phone reception nor (in the evening) really working internet.The food is great, but aimed more at hungry adult hikers than families with children. The restaurant is really recommended, the owner can cook very well! :-)The inn is dog-friendly, meaning if you're unlucky, the other guests' dogs will bark at each other during breakfast.Breakfast is a kind of buffet, but on allocation. You get a cold cuts platter, rolls and eggs of the chef's choice. Special requests are acknowledged with a message from the boss.The inn is ideal for couples with dogs. For families with children, more of a stopover for a few days.

This journey through time is worth it!!!!! A very clean hostel, with an incredible nostalgia (which you learn to love after a very short time, even if you didn't know it) because the young owners have shown courage to take on the property and thank God they don't have to endure the bitter Corona times forced my knees (but almost!!!!!)... it would have been a shame. Anyone who loves hospitality, incredibly good cuisine, peace and warmth, being pampered with lovingly prepared breakfasts and culinary delights for dinner by a trained chef should not miss this hostel. We'll definitely be back and thank you for a really perfect girls' weekend!!!!!!And as far as the rooms are concerned: the best-equipped hotel is of no use if it has no soul and no heart... and you're guaranteed to find the latter here!!!!

Perfect location from which to explore the sights of Saxon Switzerland. Located directly on Malerweg, Bastei, Felsentor, Königstein etc. within walking distance. Christian is a very accommodating host, the food is great. His tips are welcome. The rooms are simple but very clean.
