Familotel Sonnenpark

OVERPRICED and for TUNNEL FANATICSWe travel a lot and like to and wanted to try out the Familotel concept. The photos on the website, the good reviews and the short distance were reasons for us to choose the Sonnenpark. It's pure mass processing, too many rooms, canteen atmosphere and anything but familiar. The Happy Clown, eagerly awaited by the little ones, performs on the lawn for a whopping 12 minutes a week with 3-4 unmotivated songs and then immediately leaves again. The entire complex consists of several buildings on a hillside in the middle of the town of Willingen and is anything but idyllic. You can see a small section of the ski slope opposite from the beautifully designed breakfast terrace, but with the sunbathing lawn that is difficult to reach, that's about all the greenery you get to see during the days. In the hotel you can pretty much only walk to the various buildings and areas via a tunnel system. That means every time you have to dive down into the basement and along km-long paths where some people get lost. Children therefore receive a pendant with the room number, which can be attached to their clothing with a snap hook (!). There are no connected outdoor areas at all. The Happy Club, i.e. the childcare, has been beautifully redesigned and the carers there make every effort (as I heard also with the toddler care), but it's about a 20-minute walk from the parents' spa if you walk quickly and take the elevator (5th floor parents' spa and childcare can only be reached at the other end of the hotel complex through the tunnel system with several stairs, etc.) The Happy Club does not have an outdoor playground and therefore children aged 3 and over go outside the hotel every day to the spa park, for example. We had ticked "yes" for outdoor activities without knowing that this meant going into the busy area via streets etc. We would have liked to have been informed in more detail and did not expect our child to leave the area while being cared for . The sunbathing lawn with the outdoor pool can only be reached through the tunnel system with several levels. The so-called bathing world has a great stainless steel wave slide (probably made a virtue of the hillside location) and a well-heated baby pool area, which also has a child-friendly slide, but is also completely confusing and you have to walk down an entire level to get to the outdoor pool. The family sauna is still from the old ski hotel days and is dark in the basement in a Mediterranean style. The food was a bit of a disaster for the first 3 days with bagged sauces and frozen vegetables. From day 4 the chef was probably present again and there was plenty of good meat and high-quality fish, but the warm side dishes and vegetables still didn't reach 4* standards. The salad bar and cheese counter were good and sufficiently stocked. The rooms have been modernized and have everything you need. I would immediately give this 3 stars for the childcare and the food from day 4 onwards as well as the beautiful design of the parents' spa (with a selected library) and the collection of many indoor play and fun options, but it was too busy for me, the children were in the evening completely crazy and threw the wood chips lying there at each other in the playground and due to the completely built-up character with the tunnels and the long paths there was no cozy atmosphere, it was all too much indoors. On top of that, the price-performance ratio wasn't right. We don't want to eat or drink that much and only used childcare sporadically and were constantly stressed about losing the child there.

We had a very wonderful, relaxing holiday as a family.Rooms, cleanliness, food, service, staff, entertainment all top.Room (Haus Sonnenschein): Living room/bedroom with separate children's room, balcony with table & 2 chairs (seat cushions would have been nice) and great view, quiet locationCleanliness: Everywhere is clean. Attention is paid to cleanliness in the background/foreground of the house and the outdoor areas all day long.Food/Drink: Rich breakfast buffet in the morning, where everyone will find something. Lunch/dinner buffet is offered warm with additional cold dishes. Delicious selection of cakes in the afternoon. You can choose drinks throughout the house all day long. In the evening it is very nice in the lounge.Staff: Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. No matter whether in the restaurant, in the bar, in the children's club or the cleaning staff.Animation:The teen club (with additional offers, e.g. trip to the summer toboggan run, diamond painting, games) was used extensively by my daughter (11). I took advantage of the sports activities (e.g. mountain bike tour, archery - it was very professional & educational, fitness/relaxation courses) with my older daughter (18).Price: In the higher segment, but there is a lot on offer and there are no additional costs (except for a massage on request).All offers could be easily booked via the app.We found everything great here at the Familotel Sonnenpark. I can only recommend it.

Perfect in all areas. The whole family gets their money's worth.

Perfect holidays

A great vacation is coming to an end.Still happy to be a guest after the 5th time. Food lost a star for me. Some things cost extra. But the rest is great. It gets more difficult for kids aged 10 and over.Wanted to extend and book again straight away for the end of January. Unfortunately, neither was possible for us anymore because the pricing policy has changed. Contrary to the valid price list, they wanted significantly more money from us. No more paying. Unfortunately it was the last time. Too badThere is another point deducted because at the moment all requests during single parent periods are rejected as soon as there is a day off in between.Then you shouldn't advertise it.In addition, without this bonus you will be paying well over 500 euros per night as an adult with 2 children.

Ideal with children

We had a fantastic stay at Familotel Sonnenpark! The hotel offers a high level all-inclusive experience.The food at the buffet was of TOP quality, with a wide and changing selection of delicious dishes to suit every taste.The rooms are large, modern and offer plenty of space for the whole family.The diverse offerings for children are particularly impressive: there is a large selection of Winther vehicles on the farm, there are huge trampolines and exciting climbing frames in the adventure land, and right next door is the bar for the parents 😀 .The swimming area is wonderfully designed, with an outdoor pool and a super fast slide that connects the indoor and outdoor areas. There is also a large SPA area for adults and a family sauna.The entire staff was always friendly and helpful, which made our stay even more pleasant.There are also a variety of activities for the whole family, from excursions and hikes to cozy campfires.Overall, we can only warmly recommend the Familotel Sonnenpark!

Simply a wonderful hotel where you can see how much passion is put into the organization and the details. Our children had an exciting, eventful holiday and we as parents had a very relaxed one. You could finish your meal in peace because the children were already busy in the playground right next to the restaurant. You could finally read something while the children ran around in the indoor playground.You could go on exciting puzzle rallies together through the hotel, play games, take part in family activities or go to the swimming pool. Or you could enjoy the beautiful sauna area and a massage while the children are in care. An all-round successful hotel concept in which everyone gets their money's worth and in which all employees make every effort (and manage) to create a family, relaxed atmosphere. We'd love to come back!

Simply perfect for families with small children. Wonderful and loving care, varied and high-quality food, just pure relaxation and enjoyment. We've really enjoyed coming here for years. The biggest praise goes to DANIEL, one of the friendliest, cheeriest and most attentive bartenders ever. His enjoyment of the task, but also of and with his guests, is phenomenal.
