About half the rooms are in the castle which was fully renovated in 1997. The others are across the courtyard in a modern building. The small castle is great fun to explore. It would have been 5 stars except that there was no hot water in the modern building for showers due to a temporary problem. Wifi was weak. A friendly landgasthof next door does good Bavarian (ie: not vegetarian) food 12:00 - 20:00 and has a little play area. The area has lots of hiking and swimming.

I and my two children, ages 6 and 8, spent a week at Traunsitz Castle during the castle summer. Time flew by, nobody wanted to go home.Brigitte is a very warm hostel mother. You could see on every corner how much heart and soul everything is made here.We were particularly pleasantly surprised by the food. Many hotels can't do that!We each had half a day of guided activity. These were also great, we particularly liked the leather crafts. But the pine cushions, the raft building and the coin work were also great.Thanks so much! We'd love to come back :)

My family and I stayed in this amazing place. the very comfortable rooms clean and comfortable. the food was very good the staff was very nice. our children took part in various activities and had a great time, we met wonderful people and we made new friends.

It is a very good hotel, the Hotel Burg Trausnitz has friendly, attentive and efficient staff; There are spaces to relax, to walk, to camp, to play; At least the room where we stayed is very comfortable, both the bedroom and the bathroom. We really liked the Castle, entering it was like stepping back in time.

I was at the castle for the second time as a participant in a medieval fantasy live role-playing game and once again it was just great.The food was great, the selection was good, the people were friendly and flexible. A great location with a brilliant convent hall and beautiful rooms!I will gladly come again. :)

Very nice New Year's Eve program, with many varied events for young and old. Great, friendly staff.Rooms in the castle are very good, although a bit old. Overall, a 1a recommendation for families. The other guests are also very nice.

We had 5 great, eerily beautiful days. Typically in a youth hostel, we found a VERY LARGE AND CLEAN ROOM with bunk beds, lounge and private bathroom with shower. The food was great - varied and with salad every day. Everything is buffet style. Hospitality is HUGE here. The castle and its surroundings are simply beautiful and make you forget everyday life.The leisure program was varied for young and old and no one was bored.In the immediate vicinity there is a village shop and another playground with goatsDear Gitte, dear Dani, dear Evi and ALL the other helping hands at the Trausnitz Youth HostelThank you, thank you, thank you for this great family holiday. It was eerily beautiful and we felt very comfortable for the last 5 days. We learned a lot of new things and learned new things that were familiar.Big praise to the kitchen ❤️ the food was great, varied and delicious. There was more than enough every day and always with vegetablesBig praise to the cleaning group ❤️ we have rarely seen a youth hostel so clean.Big compliments to everyone.
