Good opportunity to stay overnight in a top location after a long hike. Rooms are getting old. Friendly hosts! You shouldn't expect 5 star luxury.

Actually we thought this B&B is in Bad Schandau but luckily it is in Schmilka close the Czech Border. In front of the house you have one parking spot which is important as it is in a narrow street. The Appartement itself is simple but clean, we stayed there with 4 adults in two rooms with en-suite bathrooms (very small) and there is a Shared living room where they serve breakfast. The location is ideal for hiking, you have direct entry into the natural reserve. Opposite of the house is a little garden with a travel to use for guests. For Dinner there is a nice Little brewery with Biergarten and other places as well or you can go to Czech where they have restaurants as well (only 20 min. Walk). The host is friendly and beer is offered for the same price as water 😉 so full recommendation but do not expect any luxury.

Unfortunately, you will not receive an invoice or a simple receipt for the accommodation fee paid. It's all very, very tight. The breakfast room may only be entered for breakfast. During the day people tried to get into our room. I cannot agree with the positive aspects mentioned in the previous reviews (breakfast, bed quality). Nevertheless, everything is very neat and clean and the Rothermel family is concerned about the well-being of their guests.

After the 5th stage of the Malerweg, my wife and I were very happy to be able to spend a night in Mr. Rothermel's very well-equipped and spacious holiday apartment, after we had booked at short notice around May 1st. There was also very good food around the corner and there was also a beer available in the communal fridge that we could enjoy in our holiday room. The breakfast was also very rich and we - together with another couple - enjoyed a few rolls before setting off on stage #6.
