The location is exceptionally beautiful and perfect as a starting point for many activities. The 4-person room without a bathroom was ok, but on the 2nd floor (no elevator).Unfortunately, the food was neither healthy, nutritious nor varied. Fresh vegetables were only available in the morning (cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, kohlrabi). In the evening it was frozen food. Personally, there was too much meat/sausage for me and it always felt like the same gravy (certainly not fresh either). The rolls were baked goods and didn't taste good. The bread was OK. Coffee was sometimes ok, sometimes bad (filter coffee). You get full, but that's it.I can't speak of warm service either (exception: Big Klaus).

I can't say anything about the youth hostel in Thale. Because we just walked past it. Because we came back from the Hexentanzplatz. 👍👍👍

Great accommodation for families with children. Beautiful view and great location for hiking trips in the area. The decorations on Halloween in particular show how committed the youth hostel team is. We would like to thank you for the great hospitality and the delicious food and would be happy to come back.

The Thale youth hostel is located next to a very active and loud stream. It was difficult for us to sleep, the mattresses were rather thin and quite hard, we couldn't open the window at night due to a ladybug epidemic and the loud stream.I actually wouldn't go to this hostel again because I find the meals inedible. There's too little, I find "if everyone then everyone" stupid, especially when it comes to fruit and vegetables, the "warm" food is cold and overcooked. As a vegetarian and also lactose intolerant, my meals together were emergency solutions and what really shocked me: the ladies at the food counter had no idea what was in their food... If I hadn't been paying close attention myself, I would have had meals with lactose in them every day because no one knew there was lactose in them!

My daughter was there for her class trip, everything was great in terms of scenery and the offerings were great. According to her statement, what didn't work at all were the rooms where certain things had formed and so on. Furthermore, the caretaker scared the children quite a bit. I won't write more about this because we will sit down with the teachers about this and then discuss how to proceed if necessary. According to some statements, some of the staff were unfriendly when eating. We actually thought it would be a good alternative to a holiday at the sea but certainly not under the circumstances, so I don't know exactly how I would react to things like that.

Dear Thale Youth Hostel team,We are still enchanted by our stay with you! Thale is truly a place full of magic, mystical, mysterious and incredibly inviting. It's hard to put into words how comfortable we felt. Your hostel may not be a luxury hotel, but it has a luxury that is worth much more: warmth, comfort and an atmosphere that immediately embraces you.The entire team was so warm and attentive that we felt at home from the first moment. Your hospitality has touched us deeply and we would like to say a huge thank you for it. The surroundings, the fresh air, the peace, all of this completely fascinated and captivated me as a Rhinelander. It was like we were immersed in another world, a world that has to be experienced to be believed. On behalf of the Fitline team Joachim and our team leader Melanie Joachim, we would like to express our greatest respect and thanks. If you are looking for a special, almost magical place, you should definitely put Thale and your hostel on your list. This place is an insider tip that touches the soul and that you won't soon forget.Kind regards and see you soon! The Joachim team

This youth hostel is really beautifully located and the entire staff is very friendly and really tries hard. Unfortunately, the beds are extremely hard (you suffer from insomnia after a day of hiking) and even though the kitchen is really nice, the food is just ok. Rolls from the day before, strange cold tea, undrinkable coffee (what was that?). The warm food was edible as was the salad but overall there was little choice in general. Rooms in the years had a fantastic view from the window.

We were there as a school class. The food was pretty bland and some of it wasn't fresh. The room size is okay, but the beds were really hard and not particularly stable. The windows were nice and big, but you couldn't open them well or wide. There weren't enough showers and toilets for the entire room. You could close the showers, which was good, and you had enough space to change clothes. However, the water pressure was far too high. It was a nice view and the youth hostel was in a good location for getting to the Hexentanzplatz, but shopping centers and the like were very far away.

The shared showers/toilets can be cleaned more frequently. E.g. Dead insects lie on the ground for days. At peak times there is sometimes hardly any water or only scalding hot or cold. At least in the morning. The lounges are poorly and uncomfortably lit (a shame, that could easily be changed), there are table benches on the pavement in front of the building and although the Bode flows very close and the steep rock walls rise up imposingly and are wonderful to look at, it feels like sitting outside there , like at a motorway rest area. Some beds squeak so loudly that it wakes everyone else up (this can certainly be changed with a few simple steps). The food is okay, the evening salad bar is reliably delicious, the breakfast is sumptuous, everyone is guaranteed to be full. Only the packed lunches are unreasonably expensive. It's better to get some melted cheese, apples, bread and sugar bars yourself, then you'll save yourself money and disappointmentBeautiful hiking trails to Rosstrappe and Hexentanzplatz etc. are very close, as are the cable car, chair lift and fairground.
