After our climb in the best weather, we returned to the terrace of the Obere Maxlraineralm around midday (around 1:00 p.m.). We immediately noticed that despite the sunny Saturday, almost all seats were free - only five tables were occupied.We chose two schnitzels with potato salad (self-service, the food is brought to the table). Although the schnitzels at the next table didn't look very appetizing - small and burnt on the edges - the selection on the clear menu was limited.The innkeeper already seemed a little tipsy and shared a bottle of white wine with guests. After waiting 30 minutes, we asked about our food and got the answer from the chef: “Schnitzels are out.” The landlord apologized, but didn't seem particularly bothered. So we ordered two soups instead.After another 20 minutes of waiting, during which our soups also didn't arrive, we left the Alm disappointed. If the terrace had been well attended, we might have been able to understand the wait. But under these circumstances we have no words for what we have experienced here today.

Stopped here for a short rest and a cold drink 😋🍻.Sitting nicely in the sun... with a delicious Obatzter as a snack... mmmh 🤤 it was tasty, but right. 💪👌Cyclist good, also quick and very friendly service 👍Gladly again 👍 👍

The descent from the Taubensteinbahn mountain station to the Alm proved to be a bit difficult due to the wet weather. But you are happy when you arrive at the Obere Maxlraineralm. The furnishings are a successful mix of rustic old and modern. In the Alm, self-bidding is the order of the day. The prices for food are absolutely fair. I had a very tasty chili con carne. The Maxlrainer Helles on tap is a pleasure. The fireplace provides cozy warmth. The men's room is absolutely stylish. So you can stay here for several hours. Ideal for finding inner peace.

Unfortunately, the Alm seemed overwhelmed and untidy. Although the website looks professional, it was very difficult to organize the event. You had to remind the host several times, the bills weren't correct, the number of participants was always mixed up so there weren't enough places to sleep. Unfortunately disappointing because the view and the food are good.

Party planning difficult... Wirt is very scheduled and has to be reminded of everything several times. There can also be problems with the bill later on.

Not a good hiking destination. From Spitzingsee there is practically no excellent hiking trail on the last part. You get lost in the forest or struggle up the slope where there is no real path.The alpine pasture seemed careless and untidy. Not at all like the full-bodied advertising down in the valley promises. Very disappointing.

Great view. But unfortunately that's all. Staff was available but dressed very dirty. At least one of them could speak German, but he had problems with arithmetic.

Beautiful Alm great view...but schnitzel with fries...where you have to look for the schnitzel...definitely too expensive...otherwise nice...up there and friendly. .

First things first: The food was absolutely great! Had suckling pig from the buffet in the evening and it was just really good! We were here with a bachelorette party and everything was perfect. What I found disappointing and difficult to understand was the price structure. For “butter tamping” you pay €10 per person, so in our case you get 2 mashers, cream and spices for €80. Difficult. A campfire for €100 doesn't offer any opportunity to sit comfortably around it, the wood was damp and just smoked, so it wasn't that exciting. I found the prices for drinks in general to be quite high (wine spritzer €7).When asked what the WiFi password was (no one had reception here), the answer was simply “no one knows that”. We had a fun evening, and yet these facts unfortunately dampened the general perception somewhat.

We didn't like it at all. We came from the Taubenstein mountain station - the path was extremely bad! The Alpine pasture is uncomfortable, there was nothing nice about it. The view is pretty poor, the cabins on the Taubensteinbahn are shabby, the ride is unspectacular and far too expensive. Was an experience.

Food was very tasty. Accommodation takes getting used to and too expensive. Room and breakfast not justified for the price. Location very nice. Pool was running but water was green. Hut is not maintained very much makeshift. For example, the vanity unit stands on wooden beams. Rooms are separated with panels to create more rooms with hardly any space and double occupancy.

We spent one night here as a family (6 people) in three double rooms including half board. The booking was made online without any problems and the Monday before arrival Matthias (hut owner) got in touch to discuss everything finally. Our dog was also welcome on the mountain pasture.You will receive a parking ticket from Matthias so that you can park your car at the valley station of the Taubensteinbahn.Half board is included in the overnight price. This is in the form of a buffet for dinner and breakfast. We also try to take restrictions such as gluten intolerance into account.The rooms were all neat and clean, except the fact that you can't lock the rooms is seen as a minor drawback.There were a total of four showers available. For one shower stamp you could take a warm shower for three minutes.Overall, we had a lovely weekend at the Obere Maxlraineralm and would love to come back :)

The Alm is very beautifully located.Wonderful view of the valley.We were there 2 days ago and had apple strudel with vanilla sauce. We really enjoyed this one!The landlord is very nice and helpful.By chance we also met CHECKER TOBI, who our children enjoyed watching on TV.That was another unexpected highlight.We felt very comfortable there and can warmly recommend the Alm!There are also several rooms (2 bed rooms up to 14 bed rooms) to stay overnight, with half board.Christmas parties can be booked in winter, and large and well-known companies have taken advantage of this in the past.We will be back!

Unfortunately we were totally disappointed by the hut and also the hut landlord. We had booked a shared room, but we were given a dirty flophouse that we could only reach by walking through the engine room of the gondola. In the bathroom we found used razors, some shampoos and shower gel that probably belonged to the hut owner and his employees. We had booked Kaiserschmarren as dessert for dinner, but we didn't receive any. We explained this problem to the hut landlord when paying, and after a long discussion he gave us back the money we had paid in advance for the dessert. The employees were always trying hard, the innkeeper tried to talk things through, although you can't talk things over here anymore.

There is a lot of advertising here. Here it is self-service, which is basically okay. Food was okay, but not a highlight for a “rustic hut”. All in all, a pretty run-down hut. There's nothing original here...

A team that makes the best of the (perceivedly challenging) situation.- The food was consistently great, the prices fair.- The atmosphere is really nice and child-friendly.- Personally, I can't understand the bad reviews. If you don't count your change when you get it, it's your own fault. Cats and farm dogs are just part of life in the mountains.
