Price-performance ratio compared to other youth hostels in the Harz is poor.

An overall solid youth hostel: the food was good, varied with a large selection of salads, vegetarian options and various drinks. The building is a bit old, as are the room furnishings. We had a family room with a connecting door, which we had never seen before in youth hostels and was really great! The staff was friendly, there is a nice selection of communal sinks in the common room, and the atmosphere was generally very pleasant.

Not recommended! The staff is incredibly unfriendly, the lady who is there in the afternoon yells at children in a tour and doesn't seem to have any interest in her job. The rooms are very large, but dingy in many places. There is mold in the waterproofing of the shower, the floor is stained with cobwebs everywhere. The individual meals are not recommended and it is best not to book any food with them. Buns made of rubber or rock hard, The other food tastes like nothing or just disgusting

Criticism is important but it must also correspond to reality.Writing a review based on hearing/saying even though you weren't there yourself is ridiculous and not fair to the team!

I was on class fare with my class. The rooms are excellent for the price (I sleep very well). The food for dinner is varied and very tasty, but the breakfast is not very good, too much flour, you still have to add some kind of omelette or sausages. The view is great, the staff is nice and always helpful, lots of activities like table tennis (30 cents per ball and free rackets). Billiards which we played all day (2 euros for two games) What else do you need to be happy? I recommend it 100 percent. Special thanks for the food, I've never eaten like this at home🤤🤤

I wonder where these good reviews come from. My child hardly eats anything. Rotten melon and pineapple, you can kill yourself with the rolls. There is no such thing as a sandwich with butter and sausage. For those who don't like hot dishes.Simple rooms, remote location, no problem at all and I don't think it's a problem at all, but there isn't even any tea... Iced tea that tastes like soap, cucumber water with sugar in it... Who should drink that?

Very simply furnished rooms with carpeted floors. The whole house is getting old and exudes charm. The food can be seen from a normal level, there are no special highlights. Unfortunately there are very weak rolls for breakfast. It's enough for a short weekend, but overall not a good price/performance ratio. The staff is attentive but absolutely picky about the specific meal times.
