It's just unbelievable how long you wait for your room key.There were 5 guests checking in before us.We used the online self check in, but you could still queue with everyone else and wait almost 30 minutes for your key. Top.Not well thought out how the check in works.

Very nice and helpful staff at reception and service.Dogs at your own table are no problem, even at breakfast.Special requests will be accommodated if possible.Location at the train station is fantastic. You can easily cope with the street noise.Unfortunately, parking spaces are in short supply. However, the station forecourt around the corner offers an alternative if necessary.We'll definitely be back.This is the fifth time we have been guests here.

The hotel is well and centrally located next to the station and within walking distance of Wernigerode's historic town centre.The room was very nice for the price and it was quiet in the evening.It is clean, neat and full of atmosphere and the staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful.I would love to come here again. A good experience.

We were guests at the Hotel Altora for a long weekend. We had booked a deluxe double room. In the annex on the ground floor, cars outside the window and a very busy street, "Deluxe" is not justified. The room itself is well furnished. Upon request, we were offered a room one floor higher. Unfortunately, the television only worked sporadically; it was completely incorrectly set or adjusted with the learning remote control. So only one channel was possible, not "Deluxe". The service in the restaurant should have listened better, there were mistakes (one drink too many, one drink booked incorrectly). For a stay in this price category we would have expected more "deluxe" or you should think about the room names so that the expectations then don't be disappointed.

Certainly the price is a bit high. The hotel is not far from the train station and not far from the center with the old town. There are on-site parking spaces that are included in the price. In the restaurant, a model train runs its rounds directly under the ceiling. During breakfast we were able to watch the steam locomotives of the Harz narrow-gauge railways being loaded with coal. Anyone interested in full-size model and railways is in good hands here. Unfortunately, the restaurant is almost always fully booked for dinner, even for hotel guests. That's bad for the guests, but good for the hotel.

For us railway fans it was once again a very nice stay. The staff is very friendly, both at check-in and in the restaurant. The breakfast is rich and fresh, the sausage comes from the butcher!The rooms are designed with a railway theme and the size is sufficient. There is a mini fridge in the room, which is great for cooling drinks in the summer temperatures.

We left after just one night, but still had to pay the entire amount for three nights. We had problems upon arrival: the room cards didn't work and we ended up having to get a key. The room itself was in poor condition: there was dust everywhere, there was a used towel hanging in the bathroom, and the windows were dirty. When we opened the windows to ventilate, there was so much noise from outside that we had to close them again straight away. There was no air conditioning and the noise made it impossible to leave the windows open. Upon request, we were offered a small table fan for 5 euros per night (plus 20 euros deposit), but it would hardly have helped.The hygiene throughout the hotel was poor. The glasses in the room were poorly washed, and at breakfast we found cups with dried food residue that could be removed with a fingernail. The cutlery for cheese and sausage was only briefly wiped with a napkin by the staff and then put back again. The table was wiped down with the same rag that appeared to have been used on the chairs.The staff was consistently unfriendly. When checking out, we weren't even asked why we were dissatisfied, and there was no apology either. For a hotel of this category and with the high prices, we would have at least expected clean and hygienic conditions. The lukewarm coffee from plastic thermos flasks rounded off the poor overall impression.We definitely won't visit this hotel again!

We were in this hotel 2 years ago and were very excited. Now we were guests at the hotel from July 20th to July 25th, 2024 because my husband wanted to celebrate his birthday there, but we were very disappointed. Our room was already occupied dirty upon arrival. Especially in the bathroom under the sink, the hose from the hairdryer, and the tiles everywhere. Dust everywhere on the edge of the bed, the windows totally dirty. Of course, there's a lot of dust coming from the steam locomotives, but not that dirty. Those too Chairs are past their best. On Saturday evening in the restaurant the last round was at 9:20 p.m. even though the opening time is until 11 p.m. On Sunday evening we wanted to celebrate my husband's birthday a bit, so it was 9:15 p.m last round, we didn't think that was okay. We had booked half board, so we felt like second class. The dishes weren't on the menu, so we had to decide on the piece of paper that was on the table. That Most of the food was good, except the fried fish tasted like frozen fish, and the cheese spaetzle with spinach was pure mush. I wasn't asked whether it was tasty. Even when I said for dessert that I didn't like honey or nuts, no alternative was offered. In a good restaurant, you can expect that and it's normal. Dessert for people who have booked half board, The dessert was served carelessly in a cheap glass bowl, while guests who ordered ala carte received the same dessert beautifully decorated on a white plate. For 30 euros per person, you could have expected better food. The hit was a cocktail that I had I ordered a Pina Colada. It was served in a Johnny Walker glass and was warm so I had to get ice again. A cocktail has to be cold and, above all, in a nice glass and beautifully decorated. I was really shocked this cocktail. And what's not possible is to take 5 euros for a fan per day. It should be available free of charge in every room. For breakfast, baked rolls are all well and good, but you shouldn't bake them a second time, you'll bite into them teeth. Otherwise the staff was very nice and friendly, and the service was quick. Checking in and out also worked great. We will definitely come back to Wernigerode, but under these circumstances no longer in your hotel. That It's a shame because we felt very comfortable at the time and there was no reason to complain. I sent two emails to the hotel for a statement. I received a read receipt, but no response. Apparently the hotel doesn't value the guests .

Proximity to the “steam station”. Steam trains from the restaurant window is a lovely, nostalgic experience. Proximity to the old town, which is well worth seeing and has a wide range of restaurants. Food offerings in the hotel with imaginative names for the dishes. Kitchen itself not quite as imaginative. Mostly helpful, committed staff. No more beer to drink after 10 p.m. Pretty train decoration in the restaurant with drinks by train. Great for children. Overall satisfiedJürgen Berndt

The hotel is absolutely recommended. We had a wonderful holiday, very centrally located and still quiet. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. We will definitely go back to this hotel in Wernigerode.
