It's shameful that the owner of the Monastery is killing the restaurant that has been running well for ten years when it registered. It ends at the end of December. That's not how you treat a tenant. The owner is devastated and thought another 5 years then I will retire and hand over the business to a successor. If this continues, it will be a great loss for Rheine... a day trip to the Zoo and then through the beautiful forest to the restaurant is no longer possible. We will miss the hospitality and the fantastic Kuchen. Rude to treat someone trustworthy like that. The new owner has raised the prices considerably. You can no longer choose your own cake inside and the service is much more distant. The atmosphere on the terrace is still okay

We took a trip through the beautiful monastery garden. The small restaurant/bistro is also very, very nice! I could imagine that there is even one of the big fireplaces there in winter!? This place is a great place for a trip, from the salt pans to the monastery. It's about a 15-minute walk that's definitely worth it! There is a small museum in the monastery that is also worth checking out! We'll definitely be back!
