We had a very good experience with this DJH. Uncomplicated booking system.A quiet place a bit remote but still easily accessible to the old town.Overall, very modern furnishings. The room was clean, the shelf and the shower cubicle were quite narrow and cramped.The staff at reception were all very nice and helpful. Plenty and free parking spaces.There was no lunch but there was a hot dinner. Unfortunately, the variations of the dinner weren't particularly great compared to the other DJH (we had pesto noodles/pasta with tomato sauce here and sliced chicken/chilli sin carne on another day), the taste was okay. Salad buffet was very good.Our highlight: 2 table tennis tables indoors in the basement and outdoors.

A modern youth hostel without any “highlights”, but clean and well run. Danger! If you want to walk from the youth hostel to Monschau, you have to know that the footpath is nice, but partly steep (there are mainly steps towards the city), rocky and completely unlit.

A great youth hostel, modernly furnished, even with family rooms. Absolutely loving and friendly, helpful staff. With good tips for the area. The food was down-to-earth, but always very tasty and more than sufficient.

The youth hostel is clean and tidy. The staff friendly and helpful. The area is gigantic. Especially recommended in summer. The rooms are rather small. I would recommend that the operators create a few more brochures and plans for cities, sights and hikes in the area.

A very very friendly and accommodating place to stay. I was here for a team building experience with my workplace and we're were very happy with the nice and friendly staff, the beautiful area and the very high standard as far as DJH hostels go.

It was so bad, the food didn't taste good and was from yesterday and the children weren't allowed into the rooms. If the children wanted to go into the rooms they said, "The door is there, you can also pack your bags." I wouldn't recommend this youth hostel

Very nice youth hostel in a quiet location. We had a family room, very nicely furnished, private bathroom, very good beds. Rich breakfast, we didn't book any other food, but it smelled good 😉The staff are always cheerful and in a good mood. We'd love to come back!

I stayed in the youth hostel for two nights during my trip with the DeutschlandTicket. Nice location in the forest, a stop on the SB62 would be nice.I would also like breakfast at 7:00 a.mOverall, a very nice youth hostel

Nice, clean youth hostel. All employees were always polite and courteous. Good leisure options. Monschau can be reached on foot downhill in about 25 minutes. It's going to be tiring going back...

First the positive:Rooms are ok, some rooms have their own bathroom. The shower is about 1 square meter.The group rooms are spacious.Now the negative:The food is anything but balanced. Every meal comes with pasta or potatoes with sauce. For meat eaters with cheap meat and for vegetarians there is only tomato sauce.When grilling you get meat, potato wedges, what feels like 2 spoons of pasta salad, green salad and coleslaw. For vegetarians, as an alternative to meat, there are WHOLE TOMATOES to place on the grill WITHOUT an aluminum bowl.If you buy something edible for vegetarians or even (God forbid) VEGANS on your own, you will be reprimanded because you are not allowed to bring your own food.We had leftover packaged grilled cheese that we wanted to give to the group for the next day so that it wasn't bought in vain. The kitchen staff first promised us that they would put it in the fridge. 10 minutes later we found out that it had long since been thrown away.Packed lunches consisted of Tetrapack water and Magdalena cakes plus self-greased rolls.Conclusion:Good for meat eaters who don't value quality.Also good for vegetarians who do not value any form of enjoyment or nutritional value.———————————-Answer to the youth hostel:Admittedly, the staff (apart from the aforementioned kitchen staff) were nice and helpful.My main concern is that vegetarians could only eat pasta or potatoes with tomato sauce for three days in a row. I would have liked a little more variety, for example in the form of vegetables or rice etc.If I imagine if we had stayed there longer, I wouldn't have wanted to eat just the same thing for a full week or even more.Some grilled cheese or vegetables would also have been better received in the grill package than whole tomatoes as an alternative to meat for vegetarians.

The longer our stay lasted, the happier we became. Unfortunately, at the beginning there was nothing for small children. On the first evening there weren't even enough high chairs. But little by little, high chairs, toddler toys and a construction carpet were added. You probably should have asked. Despite the huge outdoor area, there is no playground.Unfortunately, drinks are only free with meals. We know from other hostels that at least tap water in carafes, and often tea, are available around the clock. The food was perfectly fine for a hostel. The salad bar was always fresh. Only for the vegetarians there were 3 pasta with tomato sauce as an alternative within a week. Every morning there were fresh rolls, juice and cocoa, among other things. Here too, the selection of toppings for vegetarians was unfortunately rather limited.The normal family rooms have two bunk beds, plenty of sockets and their own small shower room. The rooms are clean, modern and well maintained. Baby accessories can be requested. The rooms are very noisy. The Wi-Fi reception is mixed, but that's not what you travel for. There is also a washing machine in the drying room.There is a large selection of board games for children of school age+ and a table tennis room.The staff is super friendly and always helpful! Overall we had a nice stay.
