We're still thrilled after two times - our favorite is the witch's house

The witch's house is worth an experience.

Treehouse sounds a bit adventurous and reminded me of my youth. You should quickly say goodbye to this idea. At the end of Mönchberg, these seven tree houses are located in the forest together with a ground-level witch's house. The interior of these houses can be compared to a cozy hotel room. We were there for two nights (September 30th - October 2nd, 2024).But first, getting there. This is not entirely easy. Theoretically, three paths lead to the goal. However, only one road provides guaranteed access. If you enter “Kneppweg” into your navigation system, you will end up at a barrier at the tennis courts. “Am Brunnweg” looks similar. There is also a barrier here that was open, but that doesn't always have to be the case. In addition, the path is very narrow. The best way is via the “Querbergweg”. This is also the official route. I entered house number 15 and was directed to about 100 m in front of the tree houses. If this doesn't work, another alternative is to enter “Spitzensteinweg 16”. The “Querbergweg” begins there.When you arrive at your destination, there is a numbered parking space for everyone (corresponding to the number of the tree house). A short stop at houses 1 and 3 (2 is not assigned) for loading and unloading is certainly possible. Because the road is too narrow for another car to pass. This is more relaxed at house number 4 and the witch's house (which has its own parking space). Houses Nos. 5 – 8 are a little closer together, but on a slope. The furthest from the parking lot is number 8. You have to be good on foot and carry your luggage accordingly. By the way, the witch's house is located directly on the ground. Everyone else on stilts hanging from trees. Dogs cannot be taken into all treehouses. Showering is possible in two houses (No. 1 and 8). These are probably the largest residential units in terms of area. Apart from the witch's house. Otherwise, there is a cooperation with a local hotel where you can shower in the late afternoon.Now to our tree house No. 1, which is also the only one that is handicapped accessible and dogs are allowed. So there are no stairs, access is at ground level. Nevertheless, the house itself stands on stilts. It is designed for two people and is comparable to a spacious hotel room. On the terrace there is a table with two seats. The interior has a large double bed and a kitchenette with a refrigerator and a seating area. There is no stove and cooking is not allowed. Crockery is available. Separated by a sliding door, there is a very large bathroom with a shower and sink. Underfloor heating is available in the bathroom if required. Otherwise there is a heating element here and in the other room. The heating intensity is sufficient to create a cozy warmth. So freezing is a non-starter.On the first evening we ordered a barbecue package. Of course, a grill is provided that was specifically designed for use there. It is already equipped with charcoal and, just to be on the safe side, there is a second portion ready. On the second evening we ordered a sausage and cheese platter. It was varied and we were well fed on both evenings. We brought drinks with us. These can also be ordered there from the service. Breakfast is left in front of the door in a covered basket in the morning.TV and WiFi are not available. However, you can use your cell phone to access the Internet and make phone calls. There is a Kneipp facility in the immediate vicinity and tennis courts 200 m away and a large outdoor swimming pool a little further away. Everything is very easy to reach on foot.The organization worked perfectly. Entry is possible from 3 p.m. and departure should be by 11 a.m. Before you arrive there is a code for the key box at the house. Check-in takes place without staff present.
