The castle itself is beautiful but not really a great excursion destination: you can look at the castle from the outside but there is no access or circular route

We were there for 6 nights for a family holiday. We were all very excited. From the program, the food, the rooms, the environment, the excursion options and also the various lounges. It was a complete success and I can highly recommend it.

We spent a family holiday at Bodenstein Castle and it was very nice. The castle has been extensively restored and at the same time there are numerous modern elements for comfort. Special needs are taken into account and the entire team is incredibly nice and always friendly! We had a family apartment with two rooms (each with a double bed, a large and functional closet and a table with chairs), our own bathroom and additional toilet (there was also a toilet in the bathroom) and a balcony. There is no TV or hairdryer in the room (both can be borrowed at reception for a fee/deposit), but there is very good WiFi. Bed linen and towels are included in the price, but you have to put the bed linen on and take it off yourself. We didn't have room cleaning, but we were "only" there for 4 nights. Of course, the garbage can pile up during this time and toilet paper can become scarce...The windows cannot be tilted, they can only be opened completely. You can create a very good draft for this. For your physical well-being... We had booked with full board and it was absolutely fine. Of course, you should be aware that this is a non-profit family holiday resort, i.e. it is not a 5-star hotel and that is okay. Unfortunately, previously reported intolerances were not or only partially taken into account. You get unlimited water for free, coffee and other specialties are only free at breakfast time (8-9 a.m.) and other drinks (soda, beer, wine) are available for a fee. Unfortunately, the snack and drinks machine was almost empty and the age verification simply didn't work. Lunch is from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.The program offered is well thought out and flexible, meaning you only take part in activities if you want to. At the beginning everyone gets to know each other briefly and this creates a pleasant atmosphere and friendships between the children and parents can easily develop. In the dining room there are sometimes two families sitting at one table - of course you have to like that.Interesting rooms in the castle are the library, the playroom (playroom for children up to around 6 years old), the castle living room (including TV and stereo), the wine cellar and the sauna (unfortunately I didn't see either because the rooms were locked). ).There are some beautiful excursion destinations and sights in the area. In the immediate distance is the castle's own playground "Am Bornberg", which is reserved exclusively for castle guests and is lockable.Overall a very nice holiday destination, but you should be aware that there will probably be a lot of children present and therefore there may be a certain level of noise (this may be a problem for some people) and that there are rooms that share a bathroom. Please clarify this with the castle team beforehand and do not complain afterwards.

Bodenstein Castle is a beautifully restored medieval castle and an ideal starting point for numerous hikes. The complex is very well maintained and there is a cozy restaurant nearby that invites you to stop off. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to view the interior during my visit, which was a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, the trip is worthwhile for nature and history lovers.

Unique! But even though the location is really unique and we are surrounded by a nature reserve, it is not really quiet. quite the opposite. Children are constantly screaming as they let off steam here and there is always something going on in the yard. It's a shame, otherwise it would be a very nice retreat. The employees also have a smoking area under the room, and then the smoke comes out and you have to close the windows, which is an absolute no-go!Thank God I'm not in the room all day. From 10 p.m. it's quiet until 6. Then the rumbling starts.Yes, the house is a mixed operation, between a castle - attraction - open to everyone -, event venue and hotel.Difficult to bring everything to a common denominator and make everyone happy. It is very difficult to find a quiet, quiet place. If you then want to retreat to the library to read, it is unfortunately offered as a place for guests with children and you have to flee again. My last day in the castle, the 5th. A school class arrived today.Screaming everywhere. 20:42 and it's like a madhouse. Loud screaming everywhere outside, in the rooms, in the stairwell. No one in charge in the house...Hard to think about sleeping.

In total we spent 3 nights at the castle. We highly recommend using the wine cellar for events. We first celebrated a 50th birthday and a day later New Year's Eve. The gala dinner on New Year's Eve was really tasty and a nice change from the otherwise cold evening meal that was offered. There was even a brunch on New Year's Day. The price is ok considering you're staying in a castle. However, there is room for improvement in the single bed rooms. If you have the opportunity to choose a room, choose the Sleeping Beauty Suite. It's really great.__Dive into our adventures on Instagram and TikTok!@travel2gthr#Blog #Travel #Adventure #Globe Traveler #Instagram #TikTok

Bodenstein Castle is a small, beautifully restored castle that is located in a great landscape. There is a hotel in this castle that we didn't use. Unfortunately the café was still closed, so I can't comment on the food or service, but the view is beautiful. It's worth it. There is also a café at the parking lot where you can enjoy cheap but good coffee ☕️ and fresh homemade cakes 🎂. Delicious.
