We were very satisfied. Didn't want to go home anymore. Nice atmosphere... great location... clean rooms... we liked dinner and breakfast... good selection, something for everyone. Would love to come back. We're here for the third time in November 2024... I've booked again for next year. It was nice here as usual and described above.

A very nice youth hostel that, thank God, survived the Corona period and was not permanently closed. The staff is very friendly, competent and helpful. The food is very tasty, rich and there is something for everyone. The hostel is very suitable as a starting point for local hiking tours and for visits to the neighboring country of Luxembourg. Unfortunately, there are only a few parking spaces available on site. There are also a few parking spaces on the sloping street in front of the youth hostel area.

We have stayed in several youth hostels, but this time we were disappointed. If I had read the Google reviews beforehand, we would probably have gone somewhere else. There has been a promise of remedy under every review for 7 years, but obviously not much has happened. We were greeted warmly at the reception, which was nice, but there was another way: I saw a bunch of small children trying to change money at the counter for the candy machine. The lady ignored the children for 6 minutes (!) before annoyedly saying she didn't have time now. The lady couldn't or didn't want to answer when there was time: she ignored the children's questions. At another time, my companion asked that the loud discom music in the dining room be turned down: there was no one there at the time, my companion and my child would have liked to read something in the hall. This was rudely rebuffed and said that this was not possible. On the first and last day, however, there was also no disco music. The food was okay, if there was any. It happened at every (!) individual meal that when you arrived five minutes after the start of the meal, a lot of things were always missing. There was no staff at the buffet. During my stay, I had to go to the kitchen several times to report that something was missing: plates, cutlery, napkins (I could write a separate chapter about that, but that's fine), cheese, glasses, cups, potatoes, sausage, fish, dessert , Nutella (which was completely non-existent in one day, with what felt like 100 children in the house), butter, and so on and so on and so on. Something was constantly (!) missing and I can't understand why the plates were empty after 10 guests (and the guests didn't (!) fill their plates, but consumed them normally. There was just always too much of everything The time I spent standing and waiting at the buffet seemed endless. The house was full, but the staff didn't seem to be prepared for that : There was exactly 1 towel for everyone and a floor towel for the shower. Anyone who has ever traveled with small children knows that this can be very tight. We then got a towel for our hands from the car ourselves Dry off with a shower towel that was used by four people for four days (after mud games etc.) Maybe it would have worked if we had asked, but let's be honest: service is different. Finally, I would like to address the highly questionable hygiene, which is also always criticized at Goole. Yes, there were cobwebs, and more than one. Yes, the shower was heavily infested with mold and there was dirt from several weeks (?) under the beds. The trash cans were emptied exactly once during the entire stay (day 2). You can still accept all of this, after all it is still a youth hostel and not a grand hotel. But when I see that the (supposed) caretaker fills the glasses by reaching into four glasses or cups with his hands, then I change my mind. I also saw some pretty unhygienic behavior at the buffet, which didn't increase my enjoyment, quite the opposite. Overall, we found the stay very unsatisfactory, and our activities and the playground on site couldn't change that. Never again in Bollendorf, what a shame!

My first stay in a youth hostel. If I had been traveling alone, I would have driven again on the day of arrival. I had read the reviews in advance where the cleanliness was repeatedly criticized, but I actually hoped that this had improved. We were in room 9, in the basement. It was probably not cleaned before we arrived. So much dirt in the bathroom and in the room. Cobwebs everywhere. Unfortunately there are also a lot of spiders. The curtain is not enough to cover the window. Beds dirty. The furnishings are old-fashioned, but that doesn't bother you. You don't expect hotel amenities. But it must be possible for it to be clean?! There are even wool mice in table football. I find this very disappointing as the cleanliness has been criticized for years. It is always noted that people want to improve here. The friendliness of the staff was completely fine. We had booked an overnight stay with breakfast. The breakfast was great on both days. Really great. The location of the youth hostel is also perfect if you like hiking.

Located far above the village center in a nice and quiet location. There are few parking spaces and you can park on the side of the road on steep slopes. Cobwebs and spiders can be found almost everywhere in the lamps above the breakfast tables. The bed mattresses were unclean...hair and stains. The bed covers weren't really clean either. In our room the toilet ventilation rattled for minutes. The receptionist was extremely helpful and very friendly.

First impressionEverything looked nice. We were greeted warmly and looked past the cobwebs in the lamps. Our room wasn't ready yet (an hour later). We were kindly given a hiking tip and set off.VicinityVery niceSecond impression aka. Moving into the roomsAs was unfortunately only described after we booked, the rooms are spacious, but not particularly clean (dust, spiders) and it certainly wouldn't have been a nice shower experience, but it was ok.Our reason for canceling our vacation with 3 children immediately was a black (possibly moldy) corner of the room. Another room had the same problem. The employee could understand us and so we left completely disappointed. It would be nice if the operator didn't say "Thanks, we'll take care of it" down here, but instead he would actually do something.
