We planned the Kärlingerhaus as a stopover on the crossing (Maria Alm, Riemannhaus, Kärlingerhaus, Königsee), arrived at 11 a.m., but unfortunately you can't eat until 12 p.m. It would be great if you were a little more flexible here, planning the day trip down to the minute is difficult and waiting an hour isn't easy either if you have to be at the ship on time. I am aware that the prices also depend on the type of delivery, but I still think they are relatively high; goulash would have cost over €18.Mainly the kitchen opening times could be improved!

The Kärlingerhaus is an impressive destination for hikers - both because of its great location right on the lake and because of its hospitality. The hut owners are incredibly friendly and open, and they explained to us in detail and honestly why the draft beer is a little more expensive than at other huts - the transport by helicopter makes it understandable. The view from the hut is simply fantastic!The menu is small but carefully put together, and there is also a daily special. The prices are absolutely fine for the location. The dish of the day was delicious, but unfortunately the Kaiserschmarrn didn't impress us. There are numerous accommodation options, we had a room and had to go through sleeping camps at night, but completely okay for a hut. The dining room was pleasantly warm, which was especially nice since there was already snow outside.The breakfast was buffet style with a good selection: from muesli, yoghurt, fruit salad to sausage, cheese, jam and Nutella - everything was there and you could make up for it as often as you wanted. Bread was gladly provided upon request. Fair overall for €20. A small negative point were the toilets, which were a bit tight given the number of beds, so you sometimes had to queue.Unfortunately, the drying room was not in use despite the snow, which was a bit disappointing. Showering costs €2 per minute, which is common in the huts. Unfortunately, there were no free cell phone charging options as we knew from other huts - this was only possible for a fee. Overall, the Kärlingerhaus is still a great hut with charm and an unbeatable view!

The innkeepers were very unfriendly, the boss spoke to us very harshly and didn't treat her employees well.Value for money not satisfactory, high prices.Service employees were top.

Unsympathetic innkeepers.I was yelled at very harshly several times.I don't understand why anyone would decide to run a hut if they have absolutely no desire to do so.

The location/view is great. Very modern in itself, but the prices are steep (yes, everything comes by helicopter, but it's good somewhere). Beer/shandy 7€, breakfast "buffet" 20€ per person - 3 slices of dry bread and a bit of cold meat/cheese (fruit salad, jam was also available) - no matter what, 3 slices of bread aren't worth that much, sorry.Of course, showering is a luxury in a hut, but 3 minutes for 6€?! Deodorant fixed it.The staff was mostly friendly, except for 2-3 in the background who made faces...

Beautifully located hut. Depending on the time of year, it can be very touristy.Prices are a bit expensive, but still reasonable.Check-in is from 3 p.m. I recommend getting there early, check-in took forever for us.

A beautifully situated hut...Or should we say hotel...Not much to do with a hut idyll.Very touristy, everything was well organized with a very beautiful panorama. The food tasted very good. But too modern for me 😉.

Originally we just wanted to spend one night in the hut. Once we got to the top, we realized relatively quickly that due to heavy snowfall and the risk of avalanches, we had to extend our stay "involuntarily" and completely covered in snow.In this not entirely easy situation, we first tried to inform family, friends and employers - not easy given the lack of reception in the mountains. Both the financial resources we planned and the equipment and food we had with us were not enough. The situation was similar with the soaked clothes due to the persistent and violent weather.The lovely and always friendly team at the house always helped us and always had a special solution for every special situation. Yes, a warm shower costs a few euros and yes, the reception is not comparable to that in the valley. And prices have to be compared with those in the valley, taking into account the exorbitantly high costs of a refuge at 1,600m. However, here you meet great and helpful people, really good food à la carte, completely adequate beds, rustic common rooms heated by fireplaces with lots of board and card games, and so on. A small highlight was the snow bar, which we set up in front of the entrance and was inaugurated in the evening with homemade schnapps and draft beer.Without being asked, we were constantly informed about the current situation by the owners, who regularly sought communication with all external locations in order to give us a forecast for our stay.We would like to thank everyone involved for their help and accommodation and we will come back again in the future - but then when the sun is shining :)

I stayed at the Kärlingerhaus for two nights.The staff was super nice, the food was delicious and the room was comfortable and clean.The location of the cabin is beautiful.I am very satisfied and can recommend this hut to everyone 🙂Thank you Kärlingerhaus 🥰

The location and nature are breathtaking. The Kärlinghaus is clean. Shared washroom and showers are also clean.Prices are not acceptable. Even if the food is brought by helicopter.0.5 liters of beer 7 euros.Breakfast buffet 20 euros.1 cup of coffee 5 euros.Shower 3 minutes 6 euros.Half chicken with potato salad 19 euros.Top up your cell phone 5 euros.Nobody has a problem making money from sales. But that is just outrageous and borders on usury.

We felt very comfortable here! The location of the hut is great and the food, although not cheap, is above average and the service is very attentive. Only the sanitary facilities could be significantly better - and the price-performance ratio for some drinks. Tip: 0.5l of well-poured wine spritzer costs the same as a shandy ✌🏽

Clean. Really expensive.Hot shower 6 euros. Breakfast 20 euros with counted slices of bread. Cyclist 7 euros.Sockets taped up to charge 5 euros for access to the charging station. (But no data reception in the hut or the surrounding area anyway.)Long queues with >30 minutes waiting time for rooms/bed allocations despite reservations.Nice terrace with a great view. Nice staff at the food counter.

Unfortunately the prices are completely overpriced!! There is no typical food that you would expect in a mountain hut (e.g. pasta or similar) but rather a grilled plate or half a grilled chicken?! For me it has no place on the mountain... Beds were very narrow but ok.

We had the opportunity to stay overnight at the Kärlinger Haus. Unfortunately, there was no herding feeling here, although we did find a friendly group that evening at the table outside the guest rooms, as everything was reserved. The food was good too. But we can't report anything more positive. We were welcomed a bit like in the Grand Hotel by the boss who then immediately cashed in like in the Grand Hogel. €6 for showering (why isn't €2 offered for 1 minute?) and a whopping €20 for breakfast. Expectations were high, but unfortunately there was great disappointment the next morning. A poor selection and staff who really didn't enjoy their work compared to the previous evening.We would also have expected that with 200 guests, the sanitary and washrooms would be checked every now and then.All in all a disappointment in such a beautiful place. 😂

There were four of us at the Kärlingerhaus after a long hike. I can't understand the negative reviews. The service was friendly and attentive, the four-person room was tidy.There is the possibility to refill drinking water and take a cold shower for free. All in all, significantly better than the sometimes negative reviews.

Incredible cutthroats. By far the most expensive overnight stay (with DAV and 18 years old) for a room that can't even accommodate everyone standing up. The most absurd thing, however, is the 20€ breakfast, charging your cell phone for 5€(???) and the lack of a dry room, so you can leave the next day with wet clothes.The restaurant service was very friendly and the food was good, but the landlord wasn't too comfortable and the check-in at 3 p.m. is inhumane.If possible I would definitely avoid this cabin, even if the surroundings are nice.

We started our tour to the Funtenseehaus in the middle of the stone sea.The Funtensee and the Kärlingerhaus have a truly unique location.Therefore well frequented, but also well organized!

Too badAlready at the seating in the entrance area we were hit by an unpleasant smell of urine. The source of this unpleasant greeting was quickly identified as the sanitary area on the ground floor. The smell there was almost unbearable and the cleanliness of the men's toilet also left a lot to be desired. After the stay, my slippers had taken on a distinct “train station toilet aroma”.Unfortunately, the poor condition was not explained by the staff or any signs. So it seems to be the hut standard there.In order to take a warm shower in this unpleasant atmosphere, you had to purchase a shower token for €6, ... you can do that :-(For a house,- that his crew dresses in fancy costumes,- an average breakfast buffet costs €20,- would like €5 to charge your cell phone,- wants an extra euro for a bowl of hot sauce for the mountaineering meal- and would like to present oneself as “upscale” overall,an unacceptable performance.Unfortunately, the staff couldn't score points with above-average friendliness either. My rating: "okay"The food was good, but also in the upper (hut) price segment (1/2 liter beer 7€, pot of coffee 5€, piece of cake 5€). Overall, I found the price/performance ratio to be below average. But everyone may have their own opinion.Even though the location of the hut is fantastic, I cannot recommend this hut.
