It is a great location in the forest. Many hiking and skiing trails begin here including the famous Rennsteig. Large beautifully decorated authentic German restaurant Rucksacktreff is also in the house. The food there is nutritious and very tasty. The German beer is simply fantastic! :)

Hello hiking friends and bikers or people passing through. If you want to experience a good Thuringian lunch, you have to go to the summit inn Schmücke. Very nice service and the chef is really good at it. I would like to thank you again. A good meal after a great hike makes the hiker's heart happy.

We were very happy with the food, it was delicious, to the point, the dumplings were fresh... What more could you want.We especially have to mention the friendliness towards children and also our dog. This is not so obvious everywhere!Thanks

On our short hikes around Oberhof, we always heard Herbert Roth's beautiful songs.Of course also the unforgettable song by “… old Schmücke-Joel”.PS: if I may point out something - the “…old Schmücke-Joel” as a catchy tune - which you carry with you all day - that's a house number - you can believe it.On our way home today we absolutely had to pass the Schmücke.Driven?No - of course not!We parked the car and walked to the legendary place - logical - right!So that was it - the place of work of the “old…” - well you know.However, we were already very taken aback by what new things were going to happen here. If it were up to us, we would preserve the old - the history, the tradition!But it's not up to us. We also have no idea about the day-to-day business here on site.After a very nice conversation with the owner, we can now understand why there should/must be something new.But it's still a shame - really!But no matter - we will come back to see the "new" decoration.

To make dumplings like this, you'll happily run around the Schneekopf three times. 👍 And you can enjoy the roulade on the cozy panoramic terrace with a view of the valley. 😋😉

Were there again. Food very good. Service nice and friendly. Rustic location, with a lot of history. It's a shame when the renovation takes place, it loses a lot of the old charm.
