Delightful experience through and through. It is very obvious that there is a sheer amount of talent, dedication and good taste that has gone into this rural casual fine dining offering. This is a rare gem, a place where very valuable work is carried out. The ethical approach to provisioning is impeccable and the service is also very congenial. The dishes were very tasty, the raw materials are respected and not highly processed. The overall sensation is that of "tasting nature" as it genuinely is, but not without the delightful subtleties one would expect from an establishment of this ilk. You will find no unnecessary complexity and pomp here, yet I find it has its own distinctive elegance for a rural setting like this one. I have enjoyed the wine pairings very much. Excellent value for money, too. Highly recommended!

Locally sourced food is one of the big trends in fine dining. Alte Schule walks this path as well and offers variations of traditional, not to say old-school, German food. They don't offer a fixed menu and use what had been delivered on the day by local farmers and hunters. This adds an element of surprise, and so far, I had never a dish twice at any visit, but there is risk that one day's offering is better or worse than usual. My best experience was an evening where the chef prepared a menu with many dishes which are traditional in my family and each of them he did more refined as we do them at home.Service by the owners is flawless. The younger team members lack experience but make up for this with friendliness and dedication. The only downside is the wine pairing. While not particularly bad, it is just not as exciting as in other restaurants of this quality, though their wine menu has improved over the years.Alte Schule is located in the middle of nowhere. To ease the burden of getting there, they also offer a B&B. The Maisonette rooms are spacious. You will spot deers from the balcony. Just don't expect service and amenities here like in a star hotel, this is not the intention of the team, though, Breakfast is on-par with star hotels.Overall, the combo of fine dining Restaurant, B&B and beautiful landscape justifies to stay there for more than just a dinner. It makes a great getaway for two, three days.

The old school restaurant is not only worth a stop but also a short trip.Inside, the charm of the old school building meets the elegance of a modern restaurant. The service was warm and attentive from start to finish. The wine accompaniment was really well chosen. Wines and dishes were presented and explained in detail but not excessively. The fact that the kitchen dictates who eats what makes the selection incredibly easy and every course was a pleasure.Absolute highlight: We received two completely different creations for dessert because mine had a tiny competent person who couldn't tolerate my accompaniment. As a farewell, the daily menu was available to take away. All in all, a really great experience that we will repeat if we get the chance.

A dream 7-course menu with excellent service: everything at its finest. I was here for a special occasion with my adult son and we had a very nice evening. You are greeted warmly, served warmly, every course was a feast for the eyes and at the same time a taste explosion. Not over-the-top but delicately balanced and elegant: every piece is a successful creation. The wine pairing was also convincing. Ms. Schmidthaler and her delightful colleague radiated a warm, pleasant calm in the service. Thank you for this extraordinary experience. We often go to exquisite restaurants and will definitely come back to the Alte Schule.

With great enthusiasm and joy we were able to learn the most important and crucial basics and ingredients from star chef Daniel Schmidthaler and thus a lot of interesting information about making and cooking sauces. It was a cooking class in a class of its own! With and with this great chef, supported by his friendly team in a very pleasant environment and atmosphere in the “Alte Schule” restaurant in Fürstenhagen, preparing, cooking and serving the selected menus was a wonderful cooking experience. Accompanied by the wines that matched the respective dishes, all dishes were a culinary delight, simply delicious and ingenious! Thank you very much for these “star chef moments” on December 3rd, 2023. “This is what life tastes like.” All the best and best of health in the new year and look forward to your next visit to the “Old School”.

It was a phenomenal experience for us! We ordered 5 courses and with the “greetings” from the kitchen there were a total of 8 delicious jewels. We value and care for good food, but what Daniel and his team conjure up is close to art.The focus is on quality. Regional and seasonal cuisine does not rely on blanket luxury ingredients garnished with gold leaf. It is sustainable cuisine with all sophistication and dedication. Offering regional ingredients that you supposedly know and think you understand the stage in this form is simply beautiful and inspiring. The service is warm and considerate. We felt very comfortable.Giving it less than 5 stars is unrealistic and out of place. The price-performance ratio is excellent: especially if you understand something about the commitment and quality.A big thank you to the whole team! We wish you good luck and hopefully lots of joy in your incredible, wonderful work.
